There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

-Someone is losing her shyness ??

This week, for the first time, we spotted a #jaguar at Refúgio da Ilha (@refugiodailha_ecolodge )!

The lodge is located in the southern region of the #pantanal, on an island formed by a bifurcation of the #salobra river, and has become our latest partner this year, together with Instituto Delta do Salobra (@ids_institutodeltadosalobra ). We knew there were jaguars in the area and we have been already monitoring them through camera traps.

While the biologist @edu.fragoso_ was conducting the field monitoring, he spotted this female jaguar that you see in the photo, and managed to show it live for the first time to all the guests who were on site. Overall, it was more than four hours of sighting! ??

This jaguar now is named "Parceria", meaning partnership in Portuguese. She is the first of many jaguars to be spotted from now on at the lodge "Refugio da Ilha", with partnership of Onçafari. Do you like the name?

We are very happy with this achievement and very excited about the sightings to come!

Shredded female from Pantanal.

Due to the pandemic the lack of tourism in the area has privileged local residents with much more sightings of wild life in Aquidauana - Pantanal.
