Desert & Delta Safaris:
Our marketing man James Wilson took this incredible photo on his recent trip to Leroo La Tau. The group were on a game drive in the early morning when they found the mating lions.
The female almost always lashes out at the male after mating and James was ready with the camera to capture this impressive image.

Ale Olivieri - WanderingThru:
Beautiful Madikwe

The red desert sands and gorgeous dark-maned lions make for an explosion of colours and contrast that can only be admired with a gasp. Without a doubt one of the most contrasting sceneries.
Taken on a recent all-Spanish Safari at Madikwe Safari Lodge
______
Hermoso Madikwe.
La arena roja del desierto y los leones de melena negra crean una explosión de colores digna de ser admirada. Sin duda uno de los paisajes de más contraste.

Heinrich Neumeyer Wildlife and Landscape Photography:
Before amber be blinded by night,
burnt clustered clouds dances with gold,
A thunder renounces in the dwelling of light,
the darkness is ground to the bold...
This is the Kukama Drive King...

Recently I took 3 amazing guests out to Pilanesberg National Park, and we started off with a fantastic morning, finding Lora the female leopard and her mischievous 2 cubs.
We had numerous wonderful sightings which included 7 Giraffes drinking at the same time at Rathlogo Hide and the ever elegant elephant Mavuso walking close by.
We found some members of the Central Lion Pride too as they soaked up the morning sun on top of the red cyanite rocks on Kubu Drive.

In the afternoon I set out to find the very relaxed little female seen quite often on Ntswe Drive.
Unfortunately she was playing too good of a game of hide and seek and I turned around to towards Lengau Dam in search of some elephants coming in for a late drink.

As we entered the plains, one of the guests asked if a peculiar object in the distance was a rock.
I stopped to look and immediately I saw that it was a male lion lying on the ground.
We decided to stay a while to see if the big guy would eventually stand up and give us a couple of better photo opportunities.
After about 10 minutes, he had a couple of yawns, stretched his body and stood up.
He then also walked a bit closer to us, staring over the plains, looking for something.
And then, as he walked into the setting orange light of the sun, he started to roar.
The thunderous noise travelling through the air and echoing with the nearby koppies as he made his way to Baboon Rock.
Surely one of my best sightings in Pilanesberg and a perfect end to what was a most perfect day.

“The more powerful and original a mind, the more it will incline towards the religion of solitude”…An impressive Male Lion flashing his powerful jaws as he yawns and jaunts along.
One of the Skybed males, I think. A massive beast, beautiful.

Heinrich Neumeyer Wildlife and Landscape Photography:
Day 1 of the ‪#‎ChallengeOnNaturePhotography‬.

Thank you so much for nominating me Annemarie Du Plessis Zani Prinsloo.
This is one of my favourite photos and it takes me back to one of the best mornings I had to date in Pilanesberg National Park.
It was an early morning May, and the Winter had just started to borrow the colours of the grasses and trees.
I recall the Laughing Doves eloquently calling with a couple of Rufous Naped Larks pitching their infamous songs as well.
I had a solo drive and as I reached Lengau Dam, I saw a very familiar shape and colour drinking from the Eastern edge.
A lion!!!
Not just any lion, this was Keitumetsi, one of the then two brothers who ruled the area.
Truly a magnificent male lion, yet he was quite smaller than his ginormous brother Labola-Bonthle.
After drinking he proceeded his powerful walk towards the road, and into the middle of the road.
As he stood there, with all of his power and pride, he started to roar.
The vehicle was literally shaking from the noise!
The best way to start any day!!
He then crossed over to my right and he walked right next to me as he made his way towards Kubu Dam which is roughly 2 kilometers away.
All of this wonder, and me being the only person...
I just smiled and shook my head with a great feeling of content as this spectacle further emphasised the yearning to do this for the rest of my life, and to share these incredible sightings with as many people as I can...
