In Gujarat’s Gir forest, the problem seems to be developing the other way around (not that we have left the National Park and Sanctuary sacrosanct). The lions are now bursting out of the protected area into the southern regions of the forest and into what we see as “our” space. While, generally, both humans and lions are learning to live with each other, you really wonder how tenable this situation will be in the future: we are turning increasingly intolerant and lynch-loving, and as the lion population grows, so will hostile interactions.

Manoj Thaker hasn't been active in Indianaturewatch.net for almost a decade. So that male definitely isn't alive anymore, but was a handsome one during his time!

These are breeding like periplaneta... Lion census may hit 1000 mark it seems this time.

Illegal lion shows. Wonder what Gujarat will do with all these lions ... either it should call military to avoid conflict or embrace them by allowing these into their homes possibly. It is a serious time to think of some lions relocating to kutch, barda, velavadar, sita mata, khumbalgarh and kuno (did not mention darrah-jawaharsagar or seljar because it has tigers now of mukundara and difficult to persuade for relocation compared to other mentioned sites)

Lion in Mango farm.

Watch till the end. That bike guy just stopped the bike in front of an ultimate mega predator group and chilling by watching the scene and lions are doing the same. They are too habituated to human presence.

Generally wild animals like tigers, leopards and lions either attack humans or run away from humans (don't attack) when they come in close proximity. Both these happen because animals "fear humans".

But in case of gir lions, if this trend continues, after some time these lions will eventually "lose their fear completely" towards humans as of now they are doing nothing to humans (when man eaters are neglected though) and will freely start invading houses with humans and livestock inside cities as for now they neither running nor attacking like almost fear towards humans is slowly disappearing in them.
