Gotta be the most photogenic Lion coalition I've seen. Almost every single shot taken of them is epic.
Neither seen nor heard from Mfumo since the start of July, hopefully he's somewhere nearby, blowing hot air in some lionesses ear...

I agree with you, Nhenha and Nsuku especially.But nevertheless Im little dissapointed about their lack of strategy, as coalition.Their departure and the teritories which they are leaving behind,all those cubs which have been sired.My opinion is that they dont have a true leader,and they lack determination.They are just spreading their genes,but it would be better to be trully prides protectors.The Avocas are getting more and more confident...

@T Rabbit - the last photo of Mfumo appears to be the one @Abomai posted from MalaMala by ranger Gary Bruce dated July 8. Following that I read @Tshokwane say that he may hanging be with the Torchwood Pride, then Liam Donnelly from Flipside Wildlife Photography commented that one of the MalaMala rangers mentioned that Mfumo was 'up North'. So he's been off the radar for 5-6 weeks. Perhaps having mated with all of the Ntsevu lionesses he got itchy feet, and Mala Mala does share 19 km of unfenced border with Kruger NP so maybe he's investigating new territory. As his absence lengthens the fear that he is gone forever increases. So when I see him again I'll definitely be having a drink in his honour.

All successful coalitions do the same thing. They sire cubs with the females in their territory, when the competition for mating increases due to the shortage of females without cubs the coalition will seek out new females. |
