The cranium is unimpressive by prehistoric cat terms. It is about 380-390 mm complete (which is on the large side for a modern tiger but not exceptional) and relatively thin for a tiger, though not out of range. Here's the vK cranium (the one on the far right; the mandible in the picture does not belong to the cranium):

The estimated size is based on a 480 mm femur.

The Ngandong femur, as well as the humerus which is of a smaller specimen, are very robust for a tiger and a pantherine in general. When just account for length, the Ngandong specimen would be around 400 kg if we take isometry (general equation is (fossil specimen/extant specimen)^3*weight extant specimen = weight fossil specimen assuming equal proportions) with the wild specimen I modeled above who would've weighed around 240 kg. When we take into account the add robusticity, the 450+ kg range for this specimen is rational.

I'm working on showing osteological comparisons of extinct giants and their contemporaries which will show similar comparisons as above.

Thank You Very Much for your valuable information, it was Huge

@peter @tigerluver @Majingilane

The measurements are incorrect, check that the "17 inches" length was taken over the curve of the skull, not in a straight line like the measurements of Zoologists like Pocock or Mazák, among others:

This is NOT how a skull most be measured. So, the 17 inches size is unreliable and an exaggeration of the salesman and the "Dinoland Plus" webpage.

Check also this: "WOW Unbelievable Entire Barbary Coast Early Unknown Extinct Lion Huge Skull 17” Long x 9.5” wide."

How is possible that a skull with a greatest length of 432 mm could have a wide of only 241 mm??? The largest modern lion skull ever reported measured 17 inches (432 mm) in length had a wide of 11 1/16 inches (281 mm), quoted from Rowland Ward (1914).

So, in conclusion, this skull is incorrectly measured, and as we can see, the size seems just a copy-paste from the report of the giant lion of Rowland Ward, which by the way, was not corroborated by him and is only a "owner's measurement" and is not quoted like record in scientific files.

This "Dinoland Plus" page data is 100% inaccurate in the size issue and only hence the myth of the "giant" Barbary lions, which in fact were no larger than the East African population.

He is the same person that measured this Skull

@GrizzlyClaws

I dont know but for sure it is not 17 inches long because it was measured over the curve of the Skull as can be seen in the picture

So the largest skull for the Pantanal jaguar is 19 inches in length + width.

And the largest canine was 57 mm from the insertion of the skull, so that leads to a 100+mm canine in the entire length.

@epaiva

The largest leopard canine tooth I known was about 10 cm long, so do you think it could even belong to a larger skull?

@GrizzlyClaws

My Friend I am sure it belongs to a larger skull, I will look in to the Rowland Ward Records of Big Game  1981 to see if it has information of larger Leopard Skulls and will upload a picture of it.

That perfectly correlates my previous thought, the 10 cm canine toot looks to belong the skull toward 29-30 cm domain.
