There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Stack.

A couple of years ago I would have said that this was just a photo of a lion. Now I say that what makes this a pretty interesting photo is the stack of colors – from blue at the top down to brown at the bottom.

I cannot stress how lucky these visitors were to get a shot of Lions so close to their vehicles in the Crater! The crater is more limited than the Serengeti when it comes to drivers access, there are large chunks with in it where you cannot get close and lots of the animals congregate there.^^^

Leaping lions!

Ngorongoro Crater is just out of this world

^^^Notice the mane length, in the crater manes will go over their shoulder. Our guide said that is usually the sign of a healthy individual in Tanzania, when their mane covers their shoulder they are in their prime and in the crater their manes usually cover their Shoulders.^^

@Pckts,

I've noticed this too (photographs) in Crater/East African lions. These lions tend to be the smallest, but for most, their mane covers their shoulder like the shoulder pad of an NFL lineman.

The Rockstar King!

The King of Ndutu had been sleeping for the better part of the afternoon with his mate and as the sun began setting they finally got up, with their hair all ruffled up, for the night festivities to begin.

Photographed in the Ndutu Plains of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Tanzania.
