There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

From Londolozi Game Reserve, How Londolozi Changed Me For The Better:
"A Matimba male stares after females from the Mhangeni pride. It was both thrilling and tense watching as these males tried to chase down the lionesses."

"The Matimba males, captured whilst out on a cold morning’s territorial patrol as another Londolozi vehicle trails behind."

"A Matimba male finishes off a yawn as he strolls past the front of our vehicle. His coat is wet from patrolling through the dewy grass."

"A Matimba male’s hot breath is captured as he walks in the cool morning air."

"And a close-up of the Matimba male. I am fascinated by the expression of his face, the intense look in his eyes and the scars from many battles. The king of the animal kingdom. ‪#‎Nkorho‬, ‪#‎SabiSands‬, April/May 2015"

From Londolozi Game Reserve, The Week in Pictures #237 by Callum Gowar:
"The light-maned Matimba male looked bemused as he continuously walked around smelling patches around the Sand river. The river is drying up rapidly, leaving only small pools for animals to drink from."

"The two Matimba males walk purposefully into the rising sun, roaring and re-enforcing their dominance over Londolozi."

From the Londolozi blog, The week in pictures #238:
Can you spot the lion? We walked onto the top of this koppie to see if we could find where this Matimba male was calling from and he emerged from amongst the boulders just as we reached the crest. To have the sun warming us from the east and this male calling to our west made it an incredible encounter. Photograph by Amy Attenborough

From Londolozi Game Reserve, The Week in Pictures #239 by James Tyrrell
"Lions mating can be an aggressive affair, as evidenced by this photo of one of the Matimba males mating with a Mhangeni lioness. Photograph by Don Heyneke."

"Dust billows after more aggression between a Matimba male and a Mhangeni lioness, but this time over food. The lions had killed a small buffalo calf early in the morning, and the male had hogged the carcass for himself. As this lioness approached, the male began investigating her mating potential, and she took the opportunity to try and feed, but as soon as the male saw this he reacted violently.
