Kambula/Ntsevu males

The story of this NYM may end up similar to that of the Nkuhuma Birmingham who was tolerated by other males because of his slow mane development. I hope he can eventually team up with some other young male(s) like his Breakaway cousin and/or the Styx male.
But yeah the best scenario would be for the Nkuhumas and Kambulas to accept/see each other as their dominant males/pride and act as such. However, like I said earlier, without K3 and K5 returning and giving real support, this will only last until PCM or Mantimahle shows up, otherwise it will be a "dejavu" of when K4 was trying to be territorial alone while the others were all over the place, with the only difference that K4 is having K6's support right now. I hope he can eventually team up with some other young male(s) like his Breakaway cousin and/or the Styx male.never knew that slow mane development could be a factor in other males not reacting as much to sub adults,( I would like to know more on how that works) couldnt just be that this guys just arent agressive to the point of attacking this male who they couldnt care less, because its neither mating with females and isnt being raised by any female so they are all open to mate, he is just there and Kambulas might know that so just let it be I guess If there was any other coalition like probably Gijimas when they were trying to take over territory, Im not sure if that would be the case, but Kambulas seem easy going to other males, sharing meals and just let them be most of the time
This guy has been tolerated by 2 territorial BDM, by semi-territorial Kruger male, by the 4 semi-territorial Kambulas and the 2 PCM, multiple times.
I doubt this would have happened if he was as developed as the Othawa Male at the same age. 
K3 and K5 are back north, but still not reunited with brothers looks like:

I think they are territorial already (or atleast some of them) for few months now (they chased 3 territorial males), but they are yet to land full time pride. Not sure on their status with Imbali females, they should give birth to them. You may well be right, I mentioned territorial/dominant, as typically being territorial involves remaining in a particular territory for extended periods, which I have not seen from them, these boys have been quite atypical from the start, they seem to be, instead, constantly moving. If they are territorial, then their territory extends from Manyeleti all the way into north SS, a rather large territory. As for dominant over prides, again, they come in, run off dominant males (to date having only driven off solo males), mate with a few lionesses, and they are off moving again. I do not know if they have even returned to any of the prides they have mated with, once they have left. I would love to see them settle, provide some longevity and security to some of the prides involved, for sure, and begin building a legendary legacy, but we haven't seen it just yet. Their Kruger brethren seem quite the opposite. The two confident, dark-maned males of the area come charging in like they own the place (because they do), it's not surprising really. But hopefully that means the Kambulas got some of their hard-earned meal. 
The Kambula pride harcelling a big herd of buffalos. A lone lioness manages to kill one, but then an epic battle (intimidation) between the buffalos and the pride of lions occurs. And at the end the two Kambula male lions, coming after the hunt, steal the corpse from the rest of the pride...

They where in their territory, so no suprise, they where not gona risk fighting 2 territorial males in their territory for buffalo kill. That also might be reason why they where seen further south in Umkumbe, they might have been chased in that direction. |
