Limping male in the video looks like male #3

*This image is copyright of its original author

kinda confused, as we know the limping of the four healthier should be male #5.

also i chatted with the author of the video, he do claim there were 5 Nkhulu males there
according to him, there was five, one of the males was not visible. And "the two older one is missing"

as we know for a fact Smudge was there, so i guess he probably meant Dreadlock wasnt there? Maybe male #4 or #6 could be on the scene but not visible on the vid

(not sure if the previous post is Dreadlocks, if someone is able to confirm i would be glad, thanks!)

The 5th Nkhulu male looking healthy and strong,  at Skukuza KNP.
If Dreadlock is also there and those are recent, that would be great news.

Nkhulu #2 - Snip Tail

andbeyondkirkmanskamp:
"Amidst the cool embrace of a rainy morning, witness a grooming session with one of the Nhkhulu male lions as he readies himself for a territorial patrol.
In the rhythmic dance of raindrops, the bonds of pride are reinforced, and the majestic lion prepares to venture into the misty territories he calls home."

Nkhulu #3 earlier today | (Looks like he has got a injured leg, most likely the one limping on the video chasing Gijima as i mentioned previously).

Nkhulu #4

andbeyondkirkmanskamp:
"Amid their timeless mating ritual, a lioness and male lion pause for a moment, their gaze sweeping across the vastness of their domain.
In the untamed romance, even breaks become a symphony of shared guardianship and the silent understanding that binds them."

He is in perfect condition here, if it is recent he was just having a real hard time finding food, rather than been sick.

Nkhulu males #2, #3 and #5 in LionSands
"An update on the Nkuhlu Coalition: Over the past two weeks, we've had some intriguing sightings of this coalition, particularly regarding the consistent changes in their makeup. On this afternoon safari, we located three of the members, but over the last few weeks, their composition has continuously shifted, with at most four of them seen together. The social dynamics of lions are fascinating, and this coalition has once again shown us why we are so captivated by their story. "

According to a Kirkman's guide, they have only been seen 5 males for a while now, and they think the 2 oldest are the ones they don't see.

I don't think they can tell which is the oldest Nkhulu but it is clear Delaporte is 1/2 they haven't seen for a long time now.

It's possible that DeLaporte and #6, possibly the weakest of the 7, are undergoing a split in the coalition, spending more time further east, while the 5 stronger males spend their time in SS and the Kruger border.

It might be better for both parties, Delaporte and #6 can enjoy less competition while the other 5 have morr manageable numbers since they were also struggling with their condition, and of course, being 5 males they'll still be easily the strongest coalition in the area, being only possibly rivaled by Kambulas who are way up north so it's unlikely they'll ever meet.
