Yea, around that age.

Not sure if PCMs will tolerate him anymore, obiviously we dont know if they meet behind the camera, but we didnt see them together in a while.

Because of his size, PCMs might not be happy with his presence.
Unfortunate for him that he’s not just the only male, but even in Sabi Sands there’s a lack of males around the same age. Off the top of my head, there’s Floppy Ear, youngest Nkuhuma male and I think 3 Talamati breakaway males. So not only would he be by himself if ousted soon, but also unlikely to be accepted by the surrounding older males.

Would be nice if he could find the other young nkuhuma boy when the time comes BUT he will likely leave with his older brothers if they are forced to leave and be a 6th nkhulu situation.

Floppy Ear is in a very precarious situation.  Gijimas already ousted him, and the Nkhulu's likely won't be kind to him either.

Unbelievably, he is not even 2 yet!  Ridge Nose gave birth early 2022, so he and his sister will turn 2 in a few months!  He looks phenomenal for his age! The mature mane and size!

A whole year younger than Floppy Ear.  His mane is already darkish and pretty long.  Early bloomer like his sires, plus with his grandpa's genes.... He's gonna be some lion if he can make it.

That is crazy, he appears to be bigger than his mother, and already has a nice mane coming in, that is really dark already. That boy is going to be a real stunner, for sure, just like the PCMs. Now we're hearing he has a hairy belly to boot, if he can make it through the nomadic phase, this boy is going to be a star.

That kinda reminds me to a male cub in our local zoo.
Which had to be moved before the age of two because it already pretty much looked like an adult and was being pushed out by the others.

I guess lions can mature pretty fast in the right circumstances.

I believe so.
Floppy Ear should be a month or two short of 3
Talamati breakaways are 1 year 7/8 months
Nkuhuma boy I heard from someone recently is around 2 and a half or something like that

Gijimas haven’t successfully ousted him, every time they’ve shown up Floppy Ear has left with the other subs while the then two remaining females mated with Gijimas. Pretty sure every time the Gijimas then leave, the whole pride reunites, so he’s still spending time in their territory. I do agree he’s in a very troubled situation just like the Nkuhuma Breakaway male tho.

I would assume ridgenose is a good hunter so both subadults are getting regular meals and then only being 3 lions on a pride and the plains camp males never see them all the food goes to them so they’re both growing fast making him larger then most young males also helps who is fathers and uncles are both very large coalition of males

Very weird, you’d think with subadults in the pride the females would act more hostile towards the BDMs. Have no doubt Mohawk and the Nkuhuma YMs were able to avoid an altercation but hopefully the subadult male went with them or was atleast defended by members of the pride.

I am still curious who that injured male is. It's been a week since that video came out. Any new developments on who it is yet?

Prob BDM, but because of poor video quality he was prob fine, only limping.

It was prob slight hunting injury from which he recover fast, and no fighting/clash happened.

As we said, NKuhumas will eventually accept BDMs as their pride males, looks like they will accept subs aswell, as N.Avocas did back in 2018 (hopefully).

People where jumping too soon for conclusions that BDMs have no future here because they didnt take control of all NKuhumas immidiately, which is not that simple as NKs where avoiding them.

This is great to see.
