Such a shame for this, Othawa cubs are just over 1 year old, still atleast 1 year away from independence, and they where doing so well. Reply

Very bad news. Could mean the end of any meaningfull lion presence in western sector.

Also. The PCboys are highly agressive to try a take over this early after becoming territorial. May not be a good sign of stability.

Even if Othawas leave western sector and went nomadic to try save the cubs (what Styx did in 2018) soner or later new pride will fill the void, also Ximhungwe/Othawa breakaway are here, and Mhangenis might return, Talamatis also where there not long ago. 

As for PC boys, they control only 2 females, 1 has cubs and other pregnant (maybe also cubs) so no mating available anymore, its natural they search for new females as they are not mating with them for around 4 months already.. Reply

The Othawas could be decimated in a take over and the Ximhungwe pride is just one roaming lioness and perhaps Gingerella. The rest only sees western sector as a small part of their territory. So wont be staying full time.
So no more central dominant pride. But rather a mixture of smaller temporary groups. A bit like Londolozi.


And while territorial male lions typically roam a bit in these circumstances. Agressive hostile takeover of this nature and numbers (2v2) are a lot more rare. Not being pressured by nomadic life they play it more safe. More like we saw with the Nwaswitshakas or Avocas vs BBoys. Reply
