Are those cubs possibly fathered by the Mbiri males?

They probably are Tinstwalo cubs from Mbiri prides. I dont think Mbiri males mated with their own sisters.

I thought Scar was seen mating with more than one of his sisters awhile back.

If this is a recent sighting and it’s a new litter, then they’re likely Tintswalo cubs.  Two months ago, there was a new litter shown and those cubs could have fell in the timeline of when Scar mated.  I’ve asked Tintswalo to clarify if this is a new second litter, or that same litter from two month ago.   For reference Scar mated with Mbiri lionesses appx last week April/1st week of May.   1st reveal of a three cub litter was made Sept 21 and they looked appx 4-6 weeks old.    This litter looks of similar age as the one seen prior, so it could be re-shared old footage.

Thank you for that clarification my friend.

Those are probably the second litter of cubs which is probably sired by the Zig Zak Mbiri. First litter - older one was sired by Orpen males.

They haven't uploaded it on to YouTube yet but Tintswalo uploaded a video on Facebook of one of the Mbiri cubs who was found dead. Seemingly from illness or malnutrition

Very sad.   I did some WP comparison to re-check this mother.   This is the same litter which was originally revealed on September 21st.  Cubs in that video looked to be no older than 4 weeks….which makes me estimate they were born appx mid august.   Making them appx 13 weeks or so.  I know the topic of who sired them has been debated because ZZ Mbiri mated with the lionesses in Late April/early May.   Timeline would fit they’re ZZ’s.  Right?

Yes, it is likely that those particular cubs were sired by Scar Mbiri.

Either way their parents are closely related as both Mbiri males and Tintswalo males originated from Mbiri pride. Not saying there was something wrong with the cub (or there is with its siblings), it seems malnutrition due to suboptimal mother behaviour is likely a cause, but theres is a higher chance the cubs might be weaker in some way. It also seemed, the cub not getting the milk in the older footage is not the same as the dead one, one of the two surviving showed was thinner than the other. Lionesses have 4 teats for a reason, but it requires a correct position for them to be accesible. The urgency of the cub to get to drink at that clip as soon as its mother lied down (without begging first) is not encouraging.

This looks like a middle aged lioness (from the Matimba generation) and not one of the younger (thanda impi). But maybe it’s first litter and it’s inexperience
