I am curious how this will develop in time.

I think for now the Avocas are just presurising the Birmingham Boys. Stealing some hunting lands while hoping some would be Kambula mothers lose faith in their protectors and seek out some fresher mates.

The BBoys are feeling the pressure. But for now are not allowing themselves to be provoked. However unlike Othawa Male, the Avocas arent going to be chased off again that easily. And eventually the BBoys and the Kambullas will start to feel cornered. And once that happens. Things may start moving pretty fast.

Atleast thats my wild guess of a prediction for it.

Ive been getting worried about the youth too. Lots of small coalitions but very few prides they can reasonably take.
We probably will see a lot of drama and thinning in the male numbers in the next few years

Blog post from sabi sabi about their lions.
https://www.sabisabi.com/news/newsupdate...sabi-sabi/

There's a mention regarding one of the Styx Girls having cubs
"However, a more imminent threat is that one of the Styx females has been seen mating with one of the N’waswishaka males. Since seeing what looks to be a heavy belly – with subsequent reports of cubs being born – she is causing friction in the northern sector of the reserve. "

Yes, towards the end of this year they will go nomadic , as well as 3 Othawa males and 3 Talamatis ( depends of situation, if they will not have pressure from dominant males around, they might stick with the pride longer, for example, if Bboys lose control of the area to Avocas, these boys will must go nomadic immidiately) but still they will be no threat to other coalitions for prob atleast 1 to 2 yrs as some of those males are just  2.5 yrs old.

2018 generation of males is really promising, but its very likely some of them will move in Kruger, especially as older Styx/NK and Plains Camps are also here and will compete for territory sooner.. Not enough space and prides for everyone..

A stunning portrait of the dominant male of the three Tumbela coalition with the golden sunlight. All of the three brothers continue to thrive in the West of Sabi Sands, with the Othawa pride. There is no real threat these males face it at the moment and It's always great to see the prime males enjoy success and stability at the same time.

There will actually be a lot of new females too. The Kambula breakaways. Talamatis will have 6 daughters who will be adults by end of this year/early next year. The torchwood breakaways STILL don’t have a true dominant male. I think there’s a lot of easy opportunity for males to have prides but I honestly don’t think this area can sustain this population. It’s just way too many lions everywhere.

I think these small breakaway prides aren't going to give much solace. There isnt much space for them to settle without coming in contact with others. So they will mostly stay close to their parents territory. So they either will be taken by their natal prides territorial male or will be a source of conflict between the males in which one will eventually fall to the other.

I guess that in a few years. The smaller or weaker coalitions or prides will be pushed out. And the lands will be divided among the stronger ones.

There may be some kind of cycle into all of this.
As larger prides give birth to larger coalitions you eventually get huge ones.
However huge coalitions tend to be not as effective in satisfying the needs of both the coalition members as the prides they conquer and toss the region into disarray. So the lion population collapses. No more big coalitions are being born and the current one will eventually split apart and collapse. Leaving a power vacuum perfect for the resulting smaller coalitions.
Though I am just brainstorming on this at a hour I probably shouldnt.
