There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Pró Carnívoros
''Do you remember the story of Pimenta? The wolf that fought against scabies and other losses and keeps fighting every day for its species against other threats?
Today, we leave here for you a beautiful video of her family and her puppies who in last early December 2020 managed to reach 6 months of age and run happily learning about life with their parents (Pimenta and Ricco) and her older sister Lupe through the pastures in the countryside of São Paulo - Brazil.''
''The project Lobos do Pardo is executed by the Instituto Pró-Carnívoros in partnership with AES Tietê and in collaboration with ICMBio-CENAP.''
Maned Wolf conservation project and study of the species in Rincón del Socorro, Parque Iberá - Argentina
Fundación Rewilding Argentina:
''The Maned Wolf is the biggest canine in South America. Following the fate of other mammals in Argentina, it suffered a devastating retraction of its distribution area. Around 100 years ago, the Maned wolf reached northern Patagonia, but today it survives in some areas of the north of our country.
One of the most important populations of Maned wolf lives in Iberá. Here, we started a project to study the species using VHF and GPS technology —for the first time for the species— and to design strategies to recover this beautiful animal.''

Projeto Sou Amigo do Lobo
''We were invited to conduct an innovative and extremely important project for the management and conservation of the maned wolf, a threatened species by the alteration of its habitat: the unprecedented experiment of rehabilitation and release of animals of the species in the wild Cerrado of western Bahia. This will be the second experience like this carried out in the country (Brazil) with the largest canid in South America. The first occurred in the Serra da Canastra.
In September, through an indication from ICMBio, we received three orphaned maned wolves pups taken to the Park by INEMA. We accepted this challenge and together with our partner institutions @institutoprocarnivoros (through the @amigodolobo project), University of Brasília, @zoobrasilia, Irmãos Gatto Agro, Galvani and the community, we will rehabilitate the animals so that they can be reintegrated into nature. The entire rehabilitation process and the awaited release moment will be shared on our social networks. Be sure to follow us.''
''Today we had the capture of our fifth Maned wolf of 2013. The first of this expedition. He was the 68th wolf captured in the Lobos da Canastra project since 2004.
Bolt, a male with an estimated age between 7 and 8 years old, he is the heaviest Maned Wolf known in the wild, he weights 33 kg. He's one of the largest animals captured in the project, he was fitted with a collar with a satellite transmitter that will send us twice a day its positions recorded every hour. This information will help in new strategies to be traced for the conservation of the species.
After 10 months of monitoring the collar will detach itself.''
''In the second half of March and first half of April, it is the almost exclusive time of the year when the maned wolf couples start to walk together, communicate more intensely through the aulids, meeting to mate at various times over the course of 2 weeks. This is the wolves' reproductive period. The rest of the year they meet very little but they continue to communicate through vocalizations and ''messages'' left in their urine and feces.
If copulation results in pups, at least in the first three months they still meet a lot in parental care. ''
''This is Nhorinhá, spotted by one of our camera traps walking with her cub in the Cerrado. Captive studies show that the males help raise the pups but the females can control how much they participate in this process!''

''There are a number of great places to see Maned Wolf in Brazil and more being found! Still, this is an endangered species and won't last long unless the Cerrado is preserved.
This Maned Wolf in Serra da Canastra National Park in Brazil was walking towards me and I hid in the tall grass. When it arrived it went straight to me and I took this pic at a distance of less than 2 meters.''
