We know that Shishangenis are some of the biggest lions in Kruger, but holy shit look at that size difference, i think i never seen such a big size difference between male and female lion in Kruger.. That guy is massive.. Reply

@Tr1x24 Nothing on him sadly. Only information is he was 1/5 s36 males and one of his partners was the last Matjulu Male but not known if they are related or they just let the old guy join Reply

Young Shishangaans
Update on Casper the White Lion... We had the privilege to see him with the three other males on our way back from the Mathikithi Wildernis Trail on Saturday 6 March 2021. It seems as if they have been hanging around the Mathikithi hill for the past couple of months, trying to avoid the more dominant males in the Greater Satara area. They are alive, but their condition seems to have deteriorated slightly due to greater foraging and top condition of herbivores, after the rain. Casper earned a few more scars from the last sighting as he fights for his right at the table. I assume they might start to contend for a larger territory in another year or two if they can survive this season of plenty. Credit: Gertzen Schlemmer Reply

Are they territorial? Its quite strange if they are not, 4 strong males at the age over 6 yrs old, they should find territory without too much problem by now.. Reply

Casper is undoubtedly the son of the one-eyed male of the Shishangaan coalition, they look very much alike! Reply

Casper and his siblings will be 8 years old this year, it is very strange that they are not already dominant over some pride! Reply

No they aren’t dominant, but there’s no reason they shouldn’t be, it’s indeed strange. They have numbers, they just need confidence to take the pride/expel someone Reply

i agree what holding them back they are a powerhouse what are the dominant males in the Greater Satara area that are holding them back ? Reply
