Last night Mapoza and 2 other males in his coalition made their presence known as their roars echoed through the night air. We decided to take a look and this is what we found at our lodge dam. Make sure you turn the sound up for this one.

2 Skorro males at Motswari

We almost walked straight into a lion hunt whilst tracking the two Skorro males the other morning. Luckily, we were out of harms way not even 5 minutes after we had walked through the area where someone else we had notified just before found one of the lions attempting a hunt on buffalo herd. Unfortunely for us we missed the whole spectacle entirely but we're pretty sure these two lions had been watching us the whole time we were tracking. It also makes for a rather scary story - close call.

That male is prob sired by Slit Nose, he is very similar to Scar Mbiri, beautiful looking male.

He says that their are new dominant male in this area, so they have a pride? Western pride?

There is yet difference between taking over pride and taking over territory. As far as I am aware of they are not interacting yet with Western pride, but I do think and hope that it is only matter of time.

Well, there was a report of them chasing Western pride, so i assume they might be takeover them by now.

Walkers BUSH VILLA

The Giraffe Pride of lions were hanging around the outskirts of the villa the other day, and the beastly Monwana males were cruising across the open plains. These photos were taken by one of our locals in lockdown, who is staying with the Walker family.

Birmingham young male injured:

Unfortunately the inevitable happened, Birmingham young male was found yesterday on SafariLive with injured leg, it seems that 2 Ross males mauled his leg few days ago..

He was in company of Fabio, the more stable of 2 Ross males, he is quite tolerate of young male and usually only follows his brother Tyson who is far more agressive towards young male:

Both males where roaring, with young male roaring louder then older male:

Roaring alongside Ross male is quite unusual, how will Ross males intepret this roars?? Is this young male challenging them or is this maybe start of a coalition?

Regardless, future of this young male is very uncertain, he is very brave, too brave to be honest. He is now injured and cant leave the pride, he now needs them for food as he cant hunt alone. But with staying he risks more injuries and even death from the 2 Ross males, as he cant escape now..

Best case scenario is that Ross males accept him in a coalition, but idk what chances for this are, because Tyson is very agressive and ferocius lion.

@Potato @Tr1x24 According to Motswari Game Reserves' Instagram from a couple of weeks ago, the current dominant males of the Western Pride are the 2 Old River Pride Males (Hondo and Xanteshema). And according to the "Lions of Timbavati" Facebook page, the 2 Skorro control an area in South-Eastern Umbabat, specifically the Brazilie property. They have been seen pushing west towards Motswari though.
