my understanding is this brother is the one typically staying with the Guernsey Breakaway Pride so he's being given the "Dark Mane Avoca" type treatment.

Filmed in the Pridelands. It's not the same lioness as the one from the Birmingham Breakaway group, who has a near identical injury, but this female also has what appears to be a bite injury to the right side of her neck.

So sad, it appears to be one of the subadult that left the pride due to new dominant males. I don't think is Lagertha because she is probably machure enough to mate.

Tanda Tula update from 18.09

What was pleasing was that these rare predators showed face while the lions remained active in the area; usually when the lions are around, the smaller predators remain scarce.  Luckily, the lions were on form this week too.  The Sark Breakaway Pride seems to be getting more and more settled in the area, under the guardianship of the Vuyela males.  One male spent the first half of the week with the pride when they were found with a wildebeest kill and carried on following them for a couple of days afterwards.  Glen tracked them down resting in the Zebenine Riverbed the morning before the wind, and the next day they were found in the west of their territory with a waterbuck kill, which it appears the Vuyela male commandeered.  To our surprise, we followed up on some suspicious hyena activity on Nkhari the next morning (it was still windy) and found that the Sark Breakaways had immediately returned to the central parts of our concession and made another wildebeest kill.  Even without the presence of a large male lion, the large lionesses and growing young males were able to keep off a dozen hyenas.  Whilst we were watching them, the missing lioness from the pride was seen in the west with her four cubs; sadly though, that was the last sign of them this week, and I am still awaiting my first sighting of the little ones!

The Giraffe Pride (or fragments thereof) remained reasonably active in the west around Plains Camp, and there was a report of the Hercule’s male in the western section too.  To make things more interesting, two unidentified male lions were seen in the central regions this past weekend too; they had tried to get a buffalo one evening, but the buffalo evidently got away.  Our guides that went to see them did not recognise them, but I suspect it could be two of the Birmingham Breakaway boys, but I have been known to be wrong…often!

Like father, like son.....one of the many growing sons of the Drift male lions Hosi and Socha

In the years that these two huge lions have been in power over the central Klaserie, they have produced more than 20 offspring that have survived the first, dangerous few years of lionhood. Many sons have now entered their nomadic phase and so, for now, we see only sporadic sightings of them - and know of at least two that sadly perished in this difficult time.
This young male is stil young enough to co-exist with the pride for now - though his handsome mane grows thicker and soon he will be cast out like the rest.

The Birmingham Breakaways Female that has a similar injury and was being rejected by the Pride seems sadly will not make it. Sje was seen alone separated and in very poor condition almost immobile today Sad

That is not what I was hoping for. Just more terrible news, in a week so full of it.

After months of me wondering about him, thanks to @lionuk who shared this sighting of the Western Pride with the Son] of Skorro Boys still looking great . Skokorro accepting him was a welcomed rarity and seems he’s now doing quite well.

Finally had the Sark Breakway Male on WildEarth after almost a year of him being in the area. He was with 6 Ngati Lionesses.

We consider this to be a unique sighting.

Why? Because this isn’t the Vuyela Pride! Do you remember the Hercules Pride? They were a tough-as-nails pride that used to frequent our traverse. Imagine our surprise when we saw them feasting on a kill in our reserve. There appeared to be 8 lionesses and 1 adult male, complete with cubs in tow (3 cubs roughly 5-6 months old).
