This is really good stuff. I wish we knew more about what was going on with the Mongwane Males, as at this rate he may end up breeding before his big brother. Do we know from which pride?

I am not certain but I guess the same pride that the River Pride Males control

Tanda Tula update

One of the River Pride lionesses was getting some unwanted attention from a Vuyela male thinking she was ready to mate, but based on her behaviour, she wasn’t getting the same signals he was, and had to do her best to bat off his advances; fortunately, she found that simply lying down was enough to get him to lose interest!

Heading out on drive after my break, it was great to see that the lions were still very active in the area; a portion of the Sark Breakaway Pride with a Vuyela male spent a couple of days around Nkhari before being found with a wildebeest kill yesterday morning.  I missed that as I had headed west but did not mind too much as we got to spend time with 18 members of the Giraffe Pride.  The limping Monwana male lion also seems to be quite active on the plains in the west, but there has not been any sign of his young Giraffe male companion; with his back left leg being all but useless to him, it is always fascinating to see how the Monwana male survives on his own.

A great recent sighting of one of the two Ross male lions roaring alongside a lioness from the Birmingham Breakaway pride. These Ross male lions are distinctive due to their white lion genes. A fathers of a fully grown white lion and a fully grown white lioness from the Birmingham pride. Despite having passed their prime, they continue to maintain their dominance and remain undefeated as male lions.

Ross Males have been an incredibly successful duo, one of the most successful in recent times. I fixed your link for you, hope that helps.

beautiful, majestic and powerful, this is one of the 5 vuyela males who at their young ages have been successful in their career, ruling a part of the territory in klaserie with sub-adult sons and small cubs, and now they have also taken over a part of the territory in Timbavati, ruling the river pride mating with the lionesses, they are a coalition to be reckoned with, they have the numbers and could extend their territory a little further if they wanted to, I hope these guys continue to prosper spreading their genes in Kruger.
