That bear-gaur video is one of the funniest I´ve seen, can´t help laughing every time seeing it. It looks like that bear is so focused to water, that it maybe thought, that it was that other bear coming there and then when gaur pushed a little bit it was like: "wtf, you aren´t Barney!!!!! " spitting that water :) Then gaur when people laughing looks almost like someone hurt it´s feelings and saying "did you see what that bear did??? And I was just trying to get some space in friendly way" :) But that bear was surprised big time, no doubt sbout it. And not the first time when we see sloth bear in same position totally ignoring surroundings :) In some way it reminds me about Baloo from The Jungle Book. Same kind of daydreamer with no stress about anything.

One of the nice side view of a bull gaur walking I have seen, gaurs although large no doubt seem quite agile and alert, they appear more athletic than bulky, a bit twitchy perhaps it's a requirement in tiger territory.

Even arguably the mightiest Tiger in India gives way when there's no reason to fight.

I don´t know what it is, but for me Gaurs look like all the time grumpy and moody :) For sure an animal, which I wouldn´t like to be near with. There would be all the time that feeling, that soon flying and landing in very inconvenient way if turning back Grin

Dare to Challenge him ??

Indian Gaur from the woods of KARNATAKA !!

A ton of muscle from the jungles of South India !!

The gaur, bos gaurus is also known as the Indian Bison. These bovines are usually quite calm and gentle and roam the forests in herds mainly comprising of adult females and calves.

Gaurs are also one of the main prey for tigers.

This muscular guy is still far from the biggest and most muscular gaur I have seen.

Indian Gaur | Bison

Some Facts about them
Gaur is the largest representative of the wild cattle. Males weigh between 1400 and 2200 pounds. They can reach 8 to 11 feet in length and from 5 to 7 feet at the height at shoulder. Females reach only ¼ of the male's size.
Body of gaur is covered with reddish to brown coat. Females and young animals have lighter coats than males.
Both males and females have upwardly curved horns. They can reach 45 inches in length. They are usually green or yellow in color, with black tips.
Gaurs have deep hollow area on the forehead and a ridge that passes between the horns. Large ears are another prominent feature on their head.
Gaurs are herbivores (plant-eaters). Their diet consists of grass, leaves, shoots and fruit.Picture From @shujath.mohammed

That sloth #bear has no idea what's lurking behind her! On a hot summer day in Central #India's #Tadoba Andhari #Tiger #Reserve, a thirsty, and not to mention a mighty #gaur is miffed to find that it has to share the precious water at the water hole with another creature.

No boundaries !

Scenes like these are becoming common with the ever shrinking forest cover. The cattle grazing in the areas close to forest, where almost the wild and domestic animals are coming in contact. Sometimes the cattles carry some deadly disease which spread to the wild animals too. And sometimes these cattles are hunted by big cats like tigers, Leopards and lions, resulting in revenge killings of these big cats by the villagers or the herdsmen. It's a dangerous situation. What can be a solution for this ?

Video by @deborahnair_

The gaur (Bos gaurus), also called the Indian bison, is the largest wild cattle species in the world and is native to South and Southeast Asia. Their habitat has been encroached by human settlement in the last few decades, bringing them closer into human contact.
Location: Kodaikanal, India

What a majestic beast!!! just he was walking the streets... Wow

That's pretty common in Kodaikanal. The hill-station in placed in between two forests & recently guars/elephants have become quite comfortable in passing right through.

How less they care have become very Gir-lion like. FD should permanently station someone in the town with a bi-cycle to escort them through.

I'm not sure if any of the prime male big cats actually want to mess with a prime bull gaur face to face, damn I think even a prime male Kodiak brown bear will think twice too.
