RE: Large male tigers from India (Videos Only) - Pckts - 10-30-2015

Recently I spoke about the view that some say lions have a thicker rump section than tigers and I was saying that when you compare them side by side you cannot tell the difference and it may have to do with how they hold a full belly or just the stripes or the tiger or the spine curvature in a tiger compared to a lion and I want you guys to look at this video for example

Wait until the tiger walks under the bridge so you can look directly down on he/she, you can see just how thick these cats are front to back.

I doubt that we can get a picture of Jai when it was measured, so we can conclude a bit of adjustment, maybe it just recently had a nice meal?

Just saying.220 Kg it's impressive!

You definitely cannot conclude its an adjustment one way or the other since the only info I received atm says he is 220kg and nothing more.

T34 aka Khumbha male tiger from zone 6 Ranthambore.
Taken on October 10th 2015.
Very big male, you can see his size while crossing the road.

Beautiful male, just like most of Ranthambhores tigers. TFS

This just goes to show that 220 kg is not a big cat, but a massive cat. everyone know's jai is big! surprised that The weight was "just" 220 kg, but maybe we all have over estimated lion/ tiger weights over the years.

Credit to @Pckts for getting the info

I think it may have more to do with the fact that unless we see these cats compared to other cats who have been weighed or hear about them from photographers who have seen many to compare, there is no way to know what size any cat is.
Many would of us looked at Ustad and Jai and said without a doubt that Jai was larger, but we all would of been wrong, me included. What we are unable to see via photograph is body length and shoulder height. Jai was a more robust cat but that has to be taken in consideration, maybe he is more robust but a stocky 5'10 man may weigh less than a thinner 6'5'' man. It was an eye opener though and I will make sure that I never get caught up in calling any cat more massive than another unless I have some very good proof of it.

Yeah great point, who would have thought that Ustad would be a heavier male than Jai, no one!
Yeah it's true this was an eye opener, to be honest I thought this Jai could be a new sceintific record cat weight, but there You go. Appriciate The great work @Pckts

RE: Large male tigers from India (Videos Only) - Roflcopters - 11-04-2015

from what I've heard, Pench team that was pushing the operation towards end of july and by august only carried a 200kg capacity scale. Im not sure what kind of scale Dr.Bilal Habib carried and in my opinion. 220kg could just be the max amount they had. don't forget what happened to Madla, same thing applies here and until measurements or any info on weight is released. we cant take this as a proof.

Just my two cents

I appreciate all your hard work Pckts! also i have a person of interest that i really want to get some answers from and that would be Varun Thakkar, hes seen the big 3 of Central India. Wagdoh of Tadoba, Kingfisher male of Kanha and Jai of Umred. it would be interesting to see how the three rank in terms of size according to him. the unfortunate part is that I dont really know him but i did pm him. lets see what he has to say. kind of really excited.
