RE: Size comparisons - AndresVida - 03-22-2022 I have the immense fortune of working in my country's WWF reserve and dealing with various species of birds of prey in aviaries. Here is a somewhat peculiar comparison that I don't think has ever been posted here, a peregrine falcon feather (left, 20 cm) compared to a kestrel feather (right, 7.7 cm) *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author If I am lucky enough, I will be able to get an eagle owl's feather from their avaries in the next days/week. Those feathers are truly massive and if I get one I promise I will compare them to the ones I got today RE: Size comparisons - Twico5 - 03-25-2022 Leopard and brown bear at Great Himalayan National park *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author

Respectively of 23.1 cm, 13 cm, 13 cm *This image is copyright of its original author
RE: Size comparisons - Pckts - 03-31-2022 Lynx and Kangal RE: Size comparisons - AndresVida - 04-01-2022 Mainecoon, the largest domestic cat breed. The largest males can touch 10 - 14 kgs, as heavy as an average coyote from smaller populations *This image is copyright of its original author

RE: Size comparisons - Mwarcaar - 04-13-2022 (04-13-2022, 08:29 PM)Hello Wrote: The size of this smilodon populator is too exaggerated. In Facts smilodons (populator or fatalis) have a smaller head than the modern lion, whether in average or maximum size. This smilodon has a head that is almost twice that of a lion, which is completely unrealistic. This comparison is just fantasy more than anything. RE: Size comparisons - LandSeaLion - 04-14-2022 “Female mountain lion and male jaguar that passed by the same camera trap site in the Pantanal of Brazil. Here's a face-to-face comparison.” *This image is copyright of its original author https://www.reddit.com/r/natureismetal/comments/u2sqoi/female_mountain_lion_and_male_jaguar_that_passed/ Edit: oops my mistake, didn’t see that LoveAnimals had already posted this! RE: Size comparisons - Hello - 04-14-2022 (04-13-2022, 08:29 PM)Hello Wrote:Yes, unrealistic, only to show how impressive is the artwork and a scale for amazement. Almost 900 lbs and 4 ft is realistic ,if not the largest. No idea about the largest skull? I believe they in general had smaller skulls than lions. |
