They are able to trace back their lineage more than 70 years, and in fact most of the lions born in the crater can be traced back to a single pair of lionesses, that remained following a plague outbreak. It is a great read. In a case where inbreeding has been taking place for many decades, they are now able to see some issues arising from it, such as lower sperm counts, and other things of this nature. In fact, it is not yet at critical stages, but if not addressed it could eventually get there. Some sort of intervention will be needed at some point. I mean, if we look at Loonkito, I read that he had bred with his own granddaughter, and produced many cubs with his daughters. So, at least to my untrained eyes, it seems nature has taken such things into account, as it is bound to happen, and no way to prevent it from occurring at all. Apologies, it seems I missed posting the link to the thread on inbreeding. RE: Birmingham Coalition Male Lineage - afortich - 10-27-2023 The Kambula gang. This is in addition to the video of @Horizon above. RE: Birmingham Coalition Male Lineage - Mapokser - 10-27-2023 Huh interesting to see them in Mala Mala. I'm sure they had been avoiding there so much because it's their natal territory. RE: Birmingham Coalition Male Lineage - criollo2mil - 10-28-2023 2/4 Northern Kambula Boys bonding. They greeted each other with a nuzzle, a few bites/nips that got a little rough, then they calmed down and relaxed a for a few minutes next to each other.
