I've come across a surprising image, a Serengeti lion called 'Hildur' which was skinny and strong at the same time, frequently making long runs to a pride: https://www.theatlantic.com/photo/2013/08/intimate-national-geographic-portraits-of-the-serengeti-lion/100570/

Usually, lions aren't aquatic, unlike their nearest relatives in the Americas, the jaguars, besides their more distant relatives, the tigers, but these Southern African and Asiatic lions beg to differ:

@chaos :

About #1203: yes, I believe so...

@BorneanTiger :

About #1202: Yes, I know, the Okavongo lions are unique. The only ones to interact frequently with stretch of water.

RE: Lion pictures and videos - Pantherinae - 07-31-2019

Male lion that lost his mane due to stress, luckily it grew back later. It’s wierd to look at, but they look impressive without it as well.

@Pantherinae

About #1207: Without the mane we can see there is a big difference with a lioness: masive body and shoulders, head less thin... Striking !

Talking about prey, here's a Roman mosaic from Tunisia in the 2nd century showing 2 lions devouring a boar (I presume Barbary lions and a North African boar): https://www.flickr.com/photos/22490717@N02/7847199676

RE: Lion pictures and videos - Shadow - 08-04-2019

A bit of humor in between... this lion reminded me about a cat, which I had in past. He was also often looking like quite proud before he then managed to do something like in this video ;Wink
