Lions Of South Africa - KNP SS & Much More
The leeubron male is the lion currently considered the largest of KNP No lion is as big as the leeubron, This was said by several photographers who know them perfectly and know KNP like the palm of his hand

?
I would discount this claim as hyperbole. Kruger National Park contains thousands of lions. No one photographer or ranger is familiar with even 10% of the lions in KNP. And as far as I've seen only two photographers have shot the Leeubron males, both being amateurs.

Of course, it's the same as claiming any Lion as the largest. There is no reason for any lions in S. Africa to get larger than Lions in E. Africa, E. Africa has the largest Lion population on earth and thus they'll have the largest individuals. The only credence I'll give for extraordinaire lion size would be in the Ngorongoro Crater and that is due to the cooler temps, year round herds of Buffalo, Wildebeest and Zebra, volcanic rich soil that contributes to healthier herbivores and the best protection in Africa. And while I couldn't notice a difference in Lion Size between the Serengeti and the Crater (the males I saw in the crater were too far off for me to get a great comparison) I certainly could notice a difference between the herbivores and especially the Elephants. The Tusks  on the elephants in the Crater are far thicker and larger than the Tusks I saw on Serengeti Elephants and my guide who worked in the Crater for 5 years said the Manes on the Lions in the Crater are always much thicker and cover the shoulder far more often than any where else in E. Africa.

Don’t forget the lions in Botswana espesially in the Okavango, they are said by every photagraphers and filmakers I’ve talked with to be extreamly big and muscular. That can be to the large desity of buffalo and learned skills to hunt elephants.

We've discussed this before but when I spoke with them about their lion size they said the lions there are actually smaller in size.

From Looking for Lions https://www.facebook.com/LookingForLions/
"Some of the largest lions I've seen, and also talking to people around Botswana - the lions in the Kalahari are some of the biggest. I can't speak personally of East Africa because i havent been there. One of the males I collared south in the Delta was quite large, but the females higher up in the Delta, in the really swampy areas, are defintely of smaller stature, but they have impressive muscular builds which we assume is from wading in the water and the sand. I have heard other guides/travellers comment on this as well."

I wasn't have a go at you by the way. Just the facebook brand of lion sensationalism that is fairly pervasive and often based on speculation rather than credible sources.

A monster of a lion on the fringes of the Okavango Delta in Botswana. Spending time with this brut is exciting. He carries an energy of pure power. ____________________________________________

I will ask if he has more photo’s of him in profile.

This male has a very dark nose already so I'd assume he's an older specimen, good looking guy either way just a big change in mane colors between the two of them.
