No nuetered do not produce any larger framed animals, fatter maybe, but even so I have seen some nuetered that are in good shape. I think captive alone is going to produce more obese animals, and since nuetering decreases a cats want to "roam" it will be less inclined to search for territories to mark I:E: Be active. What I do see in a lot of nuetered cats who are nuetered young, is a more "young" look to their face, like they never went throught puberty.
"KITTENS NEUTERED EARLY WILL BE STUNTED OR SMALL. This is not true though early neutered kittens will not develop the more masculine appearance described above." So according to this, neutering will decrease muscle mass, decrease fighting, decrease roaming and marking etc. Neutering older cats produces the same thing apparently its just slightly less effective and slightly more dangerous compared to when a cat is young and the immune system is strong. A little more info stating the same thing more or less " Will my cat gain weight after surgery? Both neutered males and spayed females have a tendency to gain weight due to a decrease in roaming and other sexual behavior. However, weight gain can be prevented through proper dietary management and exercise. Physically, male cats neutered prior to puberty do not develop the large head and thick skin of intact males." http://bestfriends.org/spay-neuter-cat.aspx RE: Zoos, Circuses, Safaris... A Gallery of Captivity - Siegfried - 04-16-2015 I read recently that Big Cat Rescue castrated Cameron. He had become insanely protective of Zabu. http://bigcatrescue.org/cameron-lion/ RE: Zoos, Circuses, Safaris... A Gallery of Captivity - Pckts - 04-16-2015 Ya, they did. He lost his mane but it needed to be done. Unless we wanted more ligers in captivity. Male big cats are always going to get possesive of their mates, food or anything they don't want you to have. RE: Zoos, Circuses, Safaris... A Gallery of Captivity - Pckts - 04-28-2015 Here is Tianxiana the Golden Tabby Male from the guy above, check out the length on him. He is a thick and long male, his other male tiger (Frankie) is taller and a little longer. https://www.facebook.com/jaguarandtiger/videos/vb.269494609918542/378380889029913/?type=2&theater He gets a little frisky at the end and gives him a little bite, watch it in full screen to appreciate it. RE: Zoos, Circuses, Safaris... A Gallery of Captivity - Pckts - 04-28-2015 Here is Frankie and Tianxiana Side by Side when frankie first arrived. You'll see he is skinnier here but watch the new videos of him on his IG account and you can see how much mass frankie put on once he was fed correctly and allowed to live in peace. https://www.facebook.com/jaguarandtiger/videos/vb.269494609918542/311696469031689/?type=2&theater RE: Zoos, Circuses, Safaris... Lions always seem to grow much longer fur in the colder habitats, same as tigers. Interesting to see RE: Zoos, Circuses, Safaris... A Gallery of Captivity - tigerluver - 05-14-2015 In terms of intelligence within the realm of humans, bears are probably one of the most intelligent carnivores. Big body, big brain. RE: Zoos, Circuses, Safaris... A Gallery of Captivity - Spalea - 05-14-2015 @tigerluver : agree with you. But the bear is worth better than clowningfor this trainer. Shame to see such a beast doing that. RE: Zoos, Circuses, Safaris... A Gallery of Captivity - Pckts - 05-21-2015 *This image is copyright of its original author
