Definitely, territorial patrols and trying to being dominant over more prides and areas has makes the mane of Kibogoyo down a lot. He's still a big male. But his mane isn't in good condition for a male lion in his heyday. By the other hand. Doa, his brother, is looking in amazing condition as always. He's a regal and proud male.

You're absolutely correct. It's not just Kibogoyo that has a small mane, his brother Koshoke (pictured in post #92 of this trend) also has similar problem with his mane. Stress, travelling and patrolling have taken toll on their manes, though they didn't have much at the beginning anyway. Despite that, they always have full bellies, which means they are eating regularly.
And it's not just Doa that is looking in amazing condition, his brother Chongo is same too.

Regreso a Maasai Mara a principios de diciembre. ¿Sabes en qué área están los Bila Shaka últimamente?

Welcome to the forum. Wow! In which area of Maasai Mara you will be staying?
The Bila shaka males are seen across Mara river.  Doa is usually alone with Paradise pride. His brothers are at another side with Oloololo pride.

Thanks Timbavati.
I will be in Keekorok for seven days. I look for the most dominant coalitions (Bila shaka and BlackRock, also Maridadi and Kaka) and old glories like Morani who lately seems to be in the area of Ashnil and Jessi who is close to the BlackRock. Earlees would be great to find it too. It will be very long photography days to be able to move around the entire park except Mara Triangle (from before sunrise to after sunset).
So, as you inform me, the Bila Shaka are usually in the Mara Triangle? (oloololo, paradise ...)

RE: Bila Shaka coalition - Nomad - 10-28-2021

I just saw it. The areas you tell me are above the Mara Triangle. About 40 km from my accommodation (about 2-3 hours of travel) It will be worth it to be able to photograph the Bila Shaka. I have a special interest with Koshoke and Doa.
Could you confirm if Baba yao survived?

Unfortunately, Baba yao wasn't seen since he was mauled by the Sala boys.

¡Estoy absolutamente de acuerdo! No es solo un modelo, sino que también es un gran protector de Paradise Pride.

RE: Bila Shaka coalition - Nomad - 11-11-2021

Sí, sé que es un gran padre, paciente y protector, además de guapo.
En tres semanas lo estaré buscando e intentaré fotografiarlo. ¡Espero conseguirlo!
