At one sighting Wienand Peens was with his guests watching the lone male when he suddenly started to roar. While a few kilometres away, Sean Cawood Wildlife Photographer and his guests were with another male and lioness. Both vehicles could hear the call and response and thankfully we caught them both on film! WOW! ? Thanks to Wienand for sharing his footage to make this post complete! RE: Lions of Timbavati - Cunaguaro - 12-19-2019 "It took us 4 days to finally see Lions awake and up close. One of these 2 males got injured in a combat earlier in the day. The other one cuddled him, licked him and comforted him. Could never have imagined this compassionate side of the deadly predator!" - Posted by ruchitpuriat Tanda Tula, Dec. 17, 2019. *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author

RE: Lions of Timbavati - Potato - 12-20-2019 Mayambula pride is back in Tanda Tula RE: Lions of Timbavati - Potato - 12-21-2019 Tanda Tula The River Pride lionesses were actually relatively scarce this week and were only seen at the start and end of the week. But between those sightings, their three males, now named the Nharhu males (simply meaning “three males”), were very active and could be found roaring on an almost daily basis to the north of Tanda Tula Safari Camp.I am not sure if the pregnant lioness has given birth yet, but I am almost certain that by the time we are back to our weekly reporting in January, she will have had her cubs. *This image is copyright of its original author In the far west, the Giraffe Pride were active, but as we had no guests at that time, we naturally didn’t venture out to see them. The Mayambula pride seem to have become a distant memory, and the only sign of the Zebenine Pride this week were tracks of the two lionesses in the east. The Mbiri males could be heard roaring, but they were not seen by any of our guides this week. I am sure that with the camp getting busier over the coming weeks and having more eyes and ears on the ground, we will get a chance to see these lions more often. RE: Lions of Timbavati - Potato - 12-30-2019 It look like Mapoza and Xikukutsu males hasn't given up on the Monwana pride New blood...the two males known as the Xikukutsu males together with the Mapoza male has been moving deeper into our territory. A change in dynamics is on the cards and the two younger Monwana males are going to have to leave their home! They were found in the exact spot where the big Giraffe male was seen in one of more recent posts.
