To be honest it's kind of sad, Smudge and Snip Tail are capable lions but their other brothers are usually in bad condition which slows the rest of the coalition down. It'll be hard for them to take over more territory if Pale and Dreadlocks don't improve their confidence. Did he, at some point after that, lose his tail? It is thought that Dreadlocks Delaporte eventually passed of his injuries received from the SAs, as it wasn't too awful long after that, that he disappeared. Following that beating, he was never seen in good condition, again. Did he, at some point after that, lose his tail?Nkuhlu males were fairly young at that time, and it was likely Dreadlock DeLaporte also tried to run but wasn't as fast. More likely that he really didn't make some kind of stand and hoped for backup, he was just unlucky to be caught as for not being fast enough to flee like his younger counterparts. Under the circumstances, he fought as hard as he could, and manage to survive for months althought never being the same lion again. DeLaporte male was trully a resilient lion. Very smart teaming with unrelated males and forming big coalitions in more than one occasion. Living a somewhat long lion life althought the odds would be against a 'solitary' male. He lived till atleast mid 2024, so thats atleast more than 6-7 months after the beating. And no, he didn't lose his tail, but in that angle it looks really weird indeed lol. They could even be alive out there in the depths of Kruger like it happened with other males. But taking into account the area they roamed isn't as unpopular as those like Mantimahle or Mangheni, who vanished and reappered, it does seem unlikely to be a similar case. Them both were not in the best conditions, amidst the circumstances it seems clear that neither of them is alive, even more so since they did not disappear together, but months apart since Nkuhlu #4 still appeared from time to time with his brothers. Regardless of anything, rangers and guides that are at Nkuhlu territory already count both of them out and everything points for the demise of the males. |
