I was actually basing my comment on our dog's eyes, which show a whole range of emotion. One of which being when she is shocked, surprised, or suddenly frightened, her eyes will open very widely. Also, I didn't say he was scared, I said he looks scared, which he does in this particular picture, with those wide eyes. I also agree that aging lions do indeed often have eyes that appear opened wider than when they were younger, and he does have that trait currently, as we have seen in other recent images of him, I am just not sure they were quite this wide opened.
Most lions share this trait, when they are fortunate enough to reach his very advanced age, Hairy Belly and Loonkito being just two examples of this, with Loonkito having it more than any other lions I have ever seen, likely due to his being older than any lion I have ever heard of.

I see no resemblance between S8 and Vuyelas.
I always thought S8 looked a bit similar to some of the Matimba in face.

I didnt said all Vuyelas, yet particulary this Vuyela, but it might be just coincidence.

Did the Monwanas sire any offspring? I am not sure about the healthy male, but certainly the limping male was around long enough to have done so, just not sure in his condition, that he would have been able to do so.

I mean maybe they did, 1/2 Monwana was seen trying to mate with one of the now Makkepis lionesses and the cubs were born with him still around with his partner the Giraffe male.
Although unlikely since he only had 3 legs and was weakened, it's not impossible that some of the 4 cubs are his.

From where they came?
Kinda look like remaining H7 male (if he is still around), he had that skinny/long face structure.
