Whereabouts of the rest of the pride was unknown if my understanding is correct. Guess we'll either see a full pride takeover eventually or perhaps another split with the three that were seen with them. Still haven't seen anything in regards to Mapoza, unfortunately.

Realistically he must be gone by now.. last sighting was at the end of June I believe.

If we see a takeover I hope the subadult males that were still with the pride survive. How many were there with the pride when Mapoza was still alive? I counted at least 5 in the video where young Avoca male was eating with them on the elephant carcass which led to the fight and young Avoca ran off.

Not too long after that altercation, 3 sons left the pride to start their nomad life and were seen in Manyeleti in a Tintswalo video, where they also ran into Nharu pride and Red Road male. The other sons were still believed to be with the pride. Hope they can survive a possible takeover by the Black Dams.

Black Dam male chasing two young Monwana males. I assume these two young males are the younger brothers of the (little bit) older trio that was sighted last month in Manyeleti, on a Nharu kill, and got chased away by Red Road.

Looks like these two are now being ousted from their natal pride by the Black Dams. Really hope at least some of these young males can hang on; some of them looked impressively aggressive in the altercation with young Avoca male.

The last remaining cub of the Monwana Pride was found dead. Tebu_Wildlife has the the news on his Instagram page for anyone that wants to view it (video shows the dead cub). One of the Northern Black Dam males is the most likely culprit as they're in the process of a pride takeover.

Looked like he had a good meal just before he was killed too, maybe that was the reason he couldn’t get away. His time was always limited unless they left their territory for good and he wasn’t old enough to join his brothers. Hopefully the 2 males that stay with the pride leave for good now too and maybe even join their brothers in Manyeleti.

These news comes courtesy of our our good friend @Tonpa

Seems, Sabi Sabi will be going into a new venture as they make the old Hunting reserve of Sandringham and convert it to a protected area.   This would give us access into the reserve where we believe the Black Dam pride has made home with their Xikukutzu Coalition pride Males

This is fantastic news, for sure! Thank you, Sabi Sabi!

An aside, I do wish @Tonpa would come back and join us again

One of the Monwana young males was seen mating with a Birmingham breakaway lioness. Johan Smalman has the clip in his story reel.

I do hope that doesn't mean something has happened to the Ross Males. Was thinking about this a couple of days ago, just look at how many adults those two males are responsible for, it is incredible. They not only helped to create them, but then they stuck around for years, to protect and nurture them into adulthood. What an amazing coalition they are!

Wrong thread, I thought I was in Manyeleti.

They were seen again today and another Monwana young male joined them but no additional lionesses were with them. I haven't seen anything to suggest something has happened to either Ross male so this one particular lioness may have just decided to seek out younger males to mate with.

Let us hope that is the case, and that we get some clarity soon.

White Birmingham male (forgot the name he's been referred to by some). On a side note about his fathers (Ross males), I heard back on an inquiry about them and they were said to have been seen a couple of weeks ago still looking in great condition.
