RE: Lions of Timbavati - Ttimemarti - 03-27-2024 From what I heard it was Shaka alone the caught him and immobilized him I believe which I am so confused on RE: Lions of Timbavati - Hairy tummy - 03-27-2024 (03-27-2024, 07:10 AM)Cath2020 Wrote: I'm racking my brains as to how a male going into his prime got caught and killed the way Guernsey did. I can understand this if he had been a sub or younger, for example. Plenty of youngsters have been caught, picked apart, and eaten by adult males wanting to prove their superiority and dominance. G. Male was well over 5 though, and it seems he should have outrun the other older males, or maybe he chose to stay and fight.... Hard to say.Probably very similar to what happened to the othawa male when the Birmingham males took him out RE: Lions of Timbavati - Cath2020 - 03-27-2024 But we know much less about the Othawa Male's demise. There are even some who question the whole narrative, that he was caught and put down by the old B'hams, etc. Even if so, there is no footage to back up any claims. The guides did not see a single thing about it, and it's speculation based on the location of his corpse which they could not even ID at first. There is a big question mark about the end of the OM. RE: Lions of Timbavati - Ttimemarti - 03-27-2024 The othawa male was killed by the Birmingham males and a few kambula females they found his body with the head and claws still on the body so he was killed by anything other than lions he was follow the roars of other lions and stumbled upon more lions then he thought RIP OTHAWA KING RE: Lions of Timbavati - T I N O - 03-27-2024 (03-25-2024, 08:47 AM)Ngonya Wrote: NOT FOR SENSITIVE VIEWERS That sighting was brutal!! We can speculate based off location and where he was last seen running towards, but there is zero proof otherwise....much less that any Kambula females were active in fighting him alongside the B'hams. I'm inclined to think if it were the old B'hams, then the lionesses would let the males sort it out, as usual. RE: Lions of Timbavati - Ttimemarti - 03-28-2024 What are you implying that humans shot him dead and left his head and claws that is what trophie hunters take he was killed by other lions nobody else was in Birmingham males territory he was seen following the roars of females I am confused on what you are trying to accomplish right now and you must not know that when a nomad is near the pride and the dominant males are near they will fight with them I mean the kambula females are the most aggressive females other than the mhangeni girls soooooo idk what to tell you I guess the 4 nwaswitshaka males by passed the Birmingham males and killed the othawa male or Mohawk and blondie came south everyone was in their respective territories except for one lion RE: Lions of Timbavati - Mapokser - 03-28-2024 @Cath2020 Guernsey was 6yo, he was in his prime. Most males become dominant at 5yo. RE: Lions of Timbavati - Cath2020 - 03-28-2024 (03-28-2024, 04:28 AM)Mapokser Wrote: @Cath2020 Guernsey was 6yo, he was in his prime. Absolutely not true about dominance at 5. You exaggerate a lot, no need to do so now. Most males become dominant between 5-10 years of age. I don't think the Guernsey Male quite reached his prime. He tackled more than he could chew, obviously, but prime condition is most often achieved AFTER 5, with some males reaching their top strength closer to 10. Males usually are in their prime at 6-8 years in full power most likely, but can still be formidable well past 8. There are plenty of late-bloomers, just like with humans and other felines. Apparently the Monwana male joined the Giraffe Pride on a kill and things got heated. Not 100% positive on the outcome but it was said by someone else that Hercules didn't launch a full scale (paraphrasing) attack on him.
