I read the article better and this is one feeding place, where they bring "dry food" for bears and there are then some cabins for people, who want to film wild bears. So not 100% natural situation, this wouldn´t happen on some moose carcass etc. But still this is quite astonishing, not normal even on these sites to see anything like this.

Ah ok, makes more sense. Still incredible how concentrated they are, and is a nod to their incredible sense of smell that so many were able to locate the area.
Given this seems a regular occurrence in terms of the frequency of feeding and thus every bear has likely been there before at one time or another, it reminds me of something I read. I believe it was posted on here, that the bear has a smell version of what I equate to a visuo-spatial sketchpad (a component of a memory theory within psychological study). It stated that they had almost a built in navigation system from smell alone, a smell map one could say. And you can see how effective it is in locating areas of nutrition, and those which served them well in the past. Great stuff.

Well, if police would train bears instead of dogs, they would find so much more whatever they are searching. Bear has one of the best sense of smells there is, there is no dog breed able to come even close. Really, not even close! That comparison just to give a bit impression about it, what we are talking about, when bear nose is topic. They can track down pretty much anything, when they choose to do so.

This video is from Swedish Bengt-Göran Skoog, 2013 but filmed in Finland.
1:30 and 2:30 have two fun cases, where wolf snaps bear in hope to get carcass or part of it :) Also contains nice footage of the wolverine. And in the end one very dark brown bear. They call sometimes Ussuri brown bear as black grizzly, well seems to be so, that also here are some.

From Sweden 2015. First comes a bear to eat some meat. There is something hidden under the rock, which bear turns over. Bear eats there and text say, that it eats only parts with fat leaving meat there when it goes away. Notice also sides of bear, looks like it have been fighting recently.
Next morning wolverine arrives and it takes care then for meat, which bear despised and left there :)

5:36-6:05, bear using help to scratch :) And 6:05 forward is a must, look how the King of the forest relax. There you have something like Baloo from The Jungle Book :) And yes, there are many "kings" among animals, but here in Finland bear is called as the King of the forest.

They got two Kodiak bears to Sweden 2012. This video contains footage, where Dr. Larry Van Daele from Alaska Fish & Game tells how these two bears were rescued as cubs. He gives also good information about it, that how they handle situation with lone cubs, when those are seen somewhere. And also about it, that what kind of demands there are if they consider giving cubs somewhere. Van Daele is one, maybe the most respected, leading experts what comes to Kodiak bears. Also dr. Jordan Schaul from Alaskan Wildlife Conservation Center tells about bears.

From Sweden, captive Kodiak and Eurasian brown bears playing around, from 2015.
Kodiak bear is 5 years old male Taquka, weighing 376 kg (829lbs) and Eurasian is 2 years old male Felix, weighing 160 kg (353 lbs). So both are young, not full grown. Especially Eurasian is practically still a cub. In the wild it would have just left from mother or still with her. Anyway this video gives a hint about it, what is the difference and why they call Kodiak Islands as The Land of Giant Bears.

Same bears, Taquka and Felix at same time as before, this time in pond. One day difference to video in my earlier posting. Smaller bear, 2 years old Felix is comparable to Ussuri brown bears. Or grizzlies same age, which live in other parts of North America, when counting out Alaskan peninsula.
Especially in the third video some good footage to see the difference.

Kodiak bear Taquka and Eurasian brown bear Felix. 1.6.2016, a bit over 7 months later than previous videos. So here Taquka is closer to 6 years old and Felix approaches age of 3 years. And 7 months earlier Taquka was 376 kg and Felix 160 kg.

Here Taquka and Felix in May 28th 2017, so Taquka is approaching age of 7 years old and Felix closer to be 4 years old.
