Interesting times ahead for lion dynamics
In the last few months, some individuals of the Birmingham breakaway coalition were spotted on Thornybush Reserve in the Greater Kruger.
These three males had been roaring in Mapoza’s territory, causing him to become very stressed. Only time will tell if these males return to take over the Monwana pride. But for now, peace has been restored after the three males returned to the neighbouring reserve.

I was concerned for him after the passing of Sumatra, but he appears to be holding on really well.

The white Birmingham male (Xakubasa) was seen yesterday morning at Nsala Wilderness Camp. He was seen this morning at Motswari Private Game Reserve with the two tawny males. They're looking in good shape.

Did we ever hear for sure who it was that bit the white male in the face? I believe someone said there were some witnesses to the event.
