I said they grow more slowly as they get older, yes, on average, most of "frame" growing is done to ~4 yrs, while mass they gain up to 6 yrs, when they start to enter absolute prime years.
But i dont like this comparisons of prime males vs 3.5/4 yrs old, ok, they might not gain much in height anymore, but will get much more mass and mane, which brings alot for males to look overall bigger.

You say the size difference wouldn't be as big ( once more, talking only about height ), but how do you know this? Why is this specific male this big of a exception to grow a lot taller after 3,5-4yo? I thought he ( or his brother ) was even significantly smaller than the Birminghams attacking him, despite I never heard anything about these Bboys being big, in fact, recently one got in a scrap with the Ross males and indeed wasn't a particularly big lion, just a normal one.
So maybe the RPM just isn't that big while Mbiri male is known for his size, creating this disparity, unless you think such disparity can't exist between adult lions? With the Mbiris themselves I remember you saying Tanda Tula was claiming Mbiris were much larger than Nharhus because Nharhus were young and months later when the Nharhus were fully established you said Mbiris probably didn't have a size advantage anymore, as if the reason for the disparity was age and not genetics, but then Tanda Tula reported seeing Mbiris again in a visit and said the same thing as always "Mbiris larger than Nharhus".

Next to the freaking BDM who doesn't even have to get up or properly sit to look down on a female and when darted by Timbavati was claimed to be bigger than the lion they weighed at 283kg with a full stomach ( Ximpoko )? BDM who also had the 3rd largest skull ever measured:

Won't we see a big disparity? If you agree to that, then, it's totally within reality that sometimes some males are much taller ( or even overall bigger ) than others.

@Mapokser ofc there is taller and smaller lions, bigger and smaller in frame, but prime male, with full muscle mass and full mane looks way bigger to our eyes then without it, even tho his height in shoulders is the same or close to when he was 4 year old.
Thats why is better compare when both lions are fully grown. You could compare 2 Mbiris now and when they where 4, now they would look much more bigger, despite their height be almost the same.
Example, 2 Talamatis, why everybody calls DM Talamati bigger of the 2 while they are the same height in shoulders (i even think Blonde on is sligtly taller) ?? Because he has much more muscle mass and bigger mane then his brother, he looks overall much bigger in frame.

That was not them, that was their younger brother who is 3 yrs old.
These 3 guys where already bigger then Ross males while ago, these 3 are big lions.

Well, yes, nobody has height in mind when they say "big", when talking about height, people will specify it, darker-maned Talamati is called bigger because he is much bulkier, making him heavier. The mane is a small bonus, especially because his mane is far from impressive, it's more a case of his brother being balder.
And while I agree that mane makes a lion look overall bigger ( not only to us, but probably to other lions too ) I don't think it makes the lion look taller, and if a lion is truly big, he can look big even without a big mane, smaller Mbiri being a good example, many rangers have called him huge despite he usually having little to no hair on his head, while his cousin, Bboy Tinyo, had that rare and impressive Old Skybed mane that connects with his elbows, still he wasn't exactly considered big even among his coalition of 5.

That stare! - A fantastic close-up of the white male lion of the Birmingham coalition seen on Ingwelala with a few new scars. The three Birmingham boys killed one of the three River pride males in early August! He is turning into a massive specimen of male lion. With nearly five years old he is approaching to his prime
