His Majesty : Part 2 "Among the animals, I am the Lion" says Lord Shri Krishna in Bhagvad Geeta.
The God calls himself a Lion which clearly shows how powerful, how majestic and great creature it is!
In continuation to my previous post, the moment we saw and approached this fantastic beast, he got a bit alert with our presence. To make us understand our limit and to showcase his dominance, the king started marking his territories on the near by trees & bushes. Its always fascinating to see on alpha animal displaying his strength, his attitude and power. This male lion was quite active and also a bit uncomfortable with our presence but this moment gave me a good opportunity to click this image.

As every picture tells a story, this image too! The posture of the King, his expression, the sunlight and the background, all of them created a perfect picture or rather I can say, a perfect story to click. It reminds me of the dialog of The Lion King movie when mufasa takes little simba on a walk and explains about the circle of life & proudly defines his territory by saying: "Everything Light Touches, is our Kingdom!"

The Forest Department of Gujarat has found a decayed carcass of another/one more lioness in the Gir forest, the last abode of the Asiatic lion in the world. 3rd such incident in past 1 month.
While the cause of her death is awaited, the search is on for her three cubs.
Kheemabhai Mensibhai Bhola, a farmer in Ambalash region in Talal, Gir Somnath district, found the dead lion in his farm on Thursday. A search is on for the three missing cubs.
In October, 23 lions were found dead in a short span of 11 to 12 days. Some of the endangered lions succumbed to the deadly infection of Canine Distemper Virus (CDV).
The present case has raised concerns among Forest Department officials.

More accurately, the last 'legal' abode of wild Asiatic lions. Of course, lions don't recognise what we recognise as 'legal' or 'illegal' territory, they'll go there they can, even outside Gir Forest, which is why lions have been spotted in places like the City of Junagadh.

I didn't remember the countries names but there are some countries, which have the permit for the administrative forest officials to shoot poachers on sight in cases of poaching animals. Nevertheless its not possible in our country. Only one act, that is wildlife protection act of India can be applicable to arrest poachers but not any other severe punishments or actions. Even though some people are arrested, they roam freely with bail like nothing happened if they are upper grade people, example salman khan. Same applies to some common people sometimes.

Imagine, how can they shoot, for harassing animals like lions who came to the revenue land of the "people"(don't come under protection and only wildlife act can be used for SC-I protected animal in case of any conflict), in a country where people who shoot animals roam freely and laws are toys for politicians.

It is neither people's fault nor of the animals. It is fault of government, by not providing animals (lions) their home/natural habitat in this large scale by saying lion is a social animal (what? socilal animal means animals which are friendly with human? new definition? lol), lion is a peaceful and calm creature, they don't attack people, we are gujaratis and we coexisted with lions for many years. we love them. they love us. we also celebrate lion-people coexistence festival.

In a place, where 50-56% lion population outside the protected area in villages and farms, the conflict between animal and people is inevitable no matter how many cameras they place with drone surveillance. The main prey outside protected area is cattle, some people find eating their cattle angry even though they are compensated and some people feel threatened themselves of being attacked by lion someday (some people are adventurous to live with predators, but not all people are mentally unhealthy to live with a mega predator) and hence, people kill lions by poisoning and other things. In these days, even protected areas are not safe for animals (applicable all over the world) to live. but the corrupt govt say "lion is safe in Gujarat's villages and farms". They tried to stop relocation by calming down people in villages with cattle loss compensation and other words like lion is our pride and making it religious or caste thing.

Now, they are building thousands of kilometers fences around protected areas (what?? -_-) by "investing" crores of public money which might be helpful for other social uses and no guarantee that 300+100 crores money will be utilized or side tracked. is this the worlds biggest zoo or wildlife reserve? really these things are crazy.

The above ones are illegal acts & now punishable with 7 years prison term (last one one however was footage of a guy checking on a dying lioness, not original upload). This behaviour will soon stop, if the new laws are enforced properly, whether or not that is done remains to be seen.

Quote:

These two are actually examples ideal behaviour expected from both FD Employees & locals near lions. The circumstances there are not ideal, but they are what they are... frankly i think this kind of footages should be publicised & people encouraged to act respectfully, instead of the daredevil stunts above.

In a place, where lions and people live together, these will not stop. no matter how many laws and what laws are implemented or enacted. They might not shoot the video, but this harassment, conflict and teasing can't be stop. Every person can't be spied all the time.
