Old but still interesting. If someone know new same kind of research, it would be very interesting to see even though I think, that this still is pretty close to reality today, what comes to density of bears in different regions. http://www.sekj.org/PDF/anzf29/anz29-057-068.pdf Here another document concerning Ussuri brown bears, interesting, but some checking still about this: http://www.sizenken.biodic.go.jp/nichiro/Abstracts.pdf RE: Brown Bears (Info, Pics and Videos) - epaiva - 11-12-2018 Big male Brown Bear Credit to @thebearsforever *This image is copyright of its original author
RE: Brown Bears (Info, Pics and Videos) - Shadow - 11-13-2018 Here good information for people interested about diet and behaviour of brown bears. This document is focused to diet of brown bears at Sikhote-Alin, Russia, but from many parts it is quite universal what comes to brown bears. Of course there are some local differences what comes to flora and fauna in different parts of the world. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S207815201630027X RE: Brown Bears (Info, Pics and Videos) - Shadow - 11-13-2018 This video is fun to watch. Those bears lived 3 weeks on that whale carcass :) No wonder, that Kodiaks can be so big, when that kind of feasts available time to time among other good food on those islands. But it is funny to see how lazy that bear seems to be there and still it bothers finally make that eagle go away :) Again old video, but very few seem to have found it. EU moves to protect large carnivores: There are now around 17,000 brown bears in Europe, spread over 22 countries. While they remain threatened they have done well in places such as Cantabria in northern Spain where their numbers have almost doubled in ten years. In some good news from the EU, farmers will now receive full compensation for any damages caused by attacks from protected animals like lynxes, wolves and bears. Other expenses, including installing electric fences or acquiring guard dogs to prevent damage, will also be fully reimbursed. The EU says the move will help protect large predators in areas where they have come into conflict with humans. *This image is copyright of its original author

RE: Brown Bears (Info, Pics and Videos) - Tshokwane - 11-23-2018 Credits to Sanne van Es - Bruijnzeels. My first up close and personal grizzly encounter and I couldn’t be more thrilled! From an appropriate distance I watched this famous Yellowstone bear preparing for winter. After an hour or so we sensed she wanted to cross the road, so we returned to our car to give her the space and safety to do so. *This image is copyright of its original author

There was a boulder sized about 50x50x60 cm which was literally "thrown" away several meters from digging site. Bears can be quite impressive when motivation is there :) |
