RE: Lion pictures and videos - Tshokwane - 02-21-2016 Qivittoq Photography-pictures from far and near: There are literally thousands of portraits of male lions in the world-most of them showing animals in their prime and some times looking as if they just came out of a beauty parlor ..This is an old solitary male from Etosha.. Namibia, May 2014. He has had a hard life..and in my opinion, shows beauty that comes with age.. *This image is copyright of its original author

RE: Lion pictures and videos - Tshokwane - 02-21-2016 Kim Wolhuter: At night! Heading home I bumped into the lions I’d heard calling all night. The male had himself 2 females and of course he was mating again, but only with the one. Although I wouldn’t put it past him trying to do both… He did approach the other female but was quickly sent packing. See pic. Mashatu Game Reserve *This image is copyright of its original author

RE: Lion pictures and videos - Tshokwane - 02-28-2016 Fred von Winckelmann Wildlife Photography.: It is not a secret that I like the interaction between members of the feline community. One of those sightings was that of a bold lion cub in Savuti that wanted to play and walked towards one of the 5 dominant male lions, that roamed this territory at that time inviting him for a greet and play. Obviously the male did not recognise the cub as his own and looked very surprised after finishing breakfast but the determination of the cub with it's full belly triggered his soft side and gave some gentle response before having a deep sleep. *This image is copyright of its original author
RE: Lion pictures and videos - Tshokwane - 02-29-2016 Olwen Evans | Photography: Incoming at Kij Kij. One of the most productive of the Kgalagadi waterholes for lion photography and great for both am and pm images, one can observe the waterhole from under the shade of a camelthorn tree. a big plus in the Kgalagadi! On this particular afternoon it seemed as if we were going to head back to camp empty handed, when from the Botswana side 4 gorgeous males appeared. My ungrateful side wished the 4th one had kept their grouping tighter for the image! *This image is copyright of its original author
RE: Lion pictures and videos - Tshokwane - 03-01-2016 Hussain A Nalwala: A shot we really enjoyed taking. A lion pair was mating and in front were some Topi's gazing. At a distance there were two buffalo's sitting in a small pond of water. All of a sudden the buffalos got up and started to run after the lions. The mating pair started to run in different directions. All the Topis that were gazing got alert and started to look at what was happening. This is a shot I took at that time when all the topis were looking in one direction at the lion. *This image is copyright of its original author
RE: Lion pictures and videos - Sully - 03-01-2016 The 4 large male lions we witnessed dominating the Ngorongoro Crater in February this year (2014), are truly beautiful specimens. The 5 resident crater lion prides have lost some of their dominance over the last few years due to inbreeding, and it is hoped that these interlopers will improve the gene pool. All these shots were taken after killing a cape buffalo, but before they got to enjoy the fruits of their efforts because the buffalo herd returned to chase the lions off the kill. That experience is documented in a previous blog post The Kings of the Serengeti Challenged . *This image is copyright of its original author The Killer of the Marauding Lions with a bloody face going to chase off the buffalo herd in the Ngorongoro Crater – Copyright © William Cowger *This image is copyright of its original author Marauder returning after chasing off local lioness – Copyright © William Cowger photo safari & workshop *This image is copyright of its original author Marauding Lion Returning to the Kill after chasing off a local lioness – Copyright © William Cowger in the Ngorongoro Crater – Photo Safari & Workshop 2014-01 Tanzania *This image is copyright of its original author Marauding Lions waiting to eat – Copyright © William Cowger in the Ngorongoro Crater – Photo Safari & Workshop 2014-01 Tanzania *This image is copyright of its original author Father & Son Marauding Lions bonding in the Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania *This image is copyright of its original author Father & Son Marauding Lions bonding in the Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania *This image is copyright of its original author Father & Son Marauding Lions Looking Hungry in the Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania – Copyright © William Cowger *This image is copyright of its original author 3 of 4 Marauding Male Lions on way to eat – Copyright © William Cowger in the Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania – Photo Safari & Workshop 2014-01 RE: Lion pictures and videos - Pckts - 03-01-2016 Oh man, I can't wait till im seeing this in the Crater... This was once when there was still a really healthy population of desert adapted lions. They were feeding on a beached pilot whale carcass just below the dune. It was recently used in the desert lion conservation teaser in the link below."
