It doesn't happens always, often young males split-up in group, reason could be many. Either trying to hunt a prey, pressured from dominant males etc etc. For example, the Black dam young males were quite skittish and getting pressured by the Xikukutsu and Mapoza males. That's one of the reason of why they spent time in Sandringham entrance instead in Thornybush.

That is such incredible news my friend, especially for all the BDM fans out there, and I know there are a ton of those. Who would have thought we were witnessing the third largest male ever measured anywhere?

Take in mind that 90% (or more) of Kruger lions dont get scull measeremunt.. But still, very impressive..

Rangers from Walkers River Camp told me that they inherited the look and size of the Black Dam male. Thus, I think the Monwana male should be a big young male.

Yes I saw BDM next to a safari jeep and it looks the size of a liger knot even exaggerating

Could you get any information on BDM's weight please. Or anyone here. One of my friends even contacted the ecologist of timbavati and he said BDM was the biggest lion he ever checked up on or seen. And he seen and checked up on ximpoko as well who was 280kgs at full belly. BDM could most definately be bigger then than ximpoko in my opinion.

Weighting wild lions is incredibly rare. BDM was never weighted.
