Friends that are working in the bushveld (who also always provided incredible sources) they've confirmed that the skull of the BDM was the third largest ever measured in Africa. Absolutely incredible! It was clear that he was a very big male, and it isn't like his head was disproportionately large for his body, I had no idea that he was that big. Wow!! He was a fine specimen of male lion, I doubt if we someday will see such a big male as he was. He was a fine specimen of male lion.." Couldn't agree more "...I doubt if we someday will see such a big male as he was." Here is where I disagree. the GKNP ecosystem is too vast to not have specimens such as the BDM waiting in the wings. In fact, there are already individuals who aren't very far off from the BDM in size (i.e. Zig Zag Mbiri, Nsemani Mbiri, Leeubron males, Ngotso males, etc.). That being said, however, the BDM having the 3rd largest skull measured in Africa is phenomenal! RE: Lions of Timbavati - T I N O - 08-12-2021 The Mayambula pride update: Things are beginning to heat up here in the Timbavati! This morning I found 7 females from the Mayambula pride on a fresh buffalo kill just north of Kings Camp. This is the furthered north I’ve seen this pride venture and with tracks of the two skorro males hot on their tails, it will be interesting to see how things unfold in the coming days as lion pressure from the north could see another pride picking up on the scent of this kill! Of course, the GKNP is a vast area. I perhaps should have especificied and mentioned in the Timbavati region. Being said this, The Mbiri male is a beast without a doubt, but even when both males were in Timbavati. the Black Dam male was said to be the biggest male ever walk in Timbavati in the last decade RE: Lions of Timbavati - T I N O - 08-12-2021 A lost ghost of the Timbavati. A recent sighting of a pride of 8 lions. three young males and 5 females. The Jacaranda/Xanetsi pride was seen passing througu Ingwelala on Sunday (8 August) and later seen on monday morning crossing into Ntsiri Private Game Reserve, One of the guides at Motswari informed me on that the group was on Motswari on Saturday and tried to hunt Buffulo but they failed and on Saturday night, They saw them cross into Ingwelala. We saw them first on Sunday early afternoon (round 1pm) close to Timbavati crossing on Ingwelala Photo courtesy of: Heitlé Booysen *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author

Oh ok, I see what you mean :) RE: Lions of Timbavati - Mdz123 - 08-12-2021 What is the largest documented male lion to have ever lived in Sabi Sands or Manyeleti? Just wondering. I am a bit worry that there was spotted only 7 females insteed of 9. Hopefully it is just just 2 of the older females which could potentially just split out from the pride to seek domiant males to mate with.
