Zark males have individual names, if they have them; do you know which ones they are?

No, They haven't individual names comparing other lions from Timbavati, they're known as the Sark males

The two remaining old Sohobele males photographed in June 2005 in Timbavati. The Sohobele males came as a coalition of four/five males that arrived in Timbavati in the 1997, a year later the fourth member was killed by a pride prominent from the Kruger National Park, four became three and then two. The last old Sohobele male passed away in 2009 of old age. After of being pressured by the Timbavati and Mahlathini males. He able to handle with both coalitions, but the age catched up him, June 2005, Photos by: Eva Andersson

Tanda Tula update

Shortly after finding the wildebeest basking in the burnt beauty, I came across a couple of lions. One of the Nharu males along with one of the River Pride females. The two cats seemed pretty happy just relaxing in cool morning breeze with their heads firmly flat. It was just my luck when a large elephant bull walked into the scene and got the attention of the slumbering felines. Quickly their heads popped up out of the grass and I was able to snap an image or two. The elephant wasn’t oblivious to the lion’s presence and stood around smelling the air trying to figure out where the lions just might be but after a while he decided he didn’t really care all that much and moved on, after all the real king of the jungle is most definitely the elephant.

He was seen on his own, limping on his back leg and with an abscess, already showing some sings of old age.

Hercules wasn't seen for two weeks with the Sumatra male

I was hoping for a stable raising of the next generation in Giraffe pride, but sadly it doesn't seem to be going that way.

RE: Lions of Timbavati - T I N O - 05-22-2021

They still could sired a few cubs within the Giraffe pride, very unfortunately for the Sumatra male, on his 10 years old of life, wasn't able sired any cub yet. I hope he could do soon

The oldest Monwana lioness leading four of her five cubs to a recent kudu kill that the females had made the evening before at Royal Maleware.

When they got there, the Mapoza Male had laid claim to the food, but relented and eventually allowed his offspring to feed.
The Monwana pride of lions will hopefully keep growing in numbers with another 2 females presumed to be pregnant at the moment.

Before stress or possible illness caused the “Smaller Maned” Xikukutsu Male #lion to lose most of his mane, he actually had a much thicker and darker mane than his brother.

If both stay strong and survive the next couple of years, I predict this guy, in the foreground, will dominate the coalition to a large degree. His mane is currently getting darker by the day, and growing at such a rapid rate, that the two now have manes of almost the same length and thickness.

The blacker colour in a #lions mane, although not clearly visible in this image, is a sign of high testosterone, a hormone essential to aggression and survival behaviour, and favoured by the oestrous females ( research has shown )

It’s super exciting to anticipate the next few years following this strong coalition, and hopefully seeing them live up to their potential, ruling the reserve here at @royalmalewane for years to come and leaving countless cubs to continue the Avoca Pride’s Legacy ( pride of origins for the brothers ), already legendary, considering the blood line has permeated through numerous reserves and famous prides. The Ross males of the Birmingham pride in Manyeleti, Kruger, and Timbivati; are their fathers.
The Avoca Males, Dominant in the Sabi Sands were born in the Avoca Pride.
The list goes on and on.

The chance that they are already responsible for the cubs in the Monwana pride, is high, as all males, and not only Mapoza ( their older coalition partner ) mated with all the females.

These two have also mated with members of the @blackdampride and could have spread Avoca pride genes here successfully too. Time will tell and we can’t wait for the arrival of new cubs again over the next month or two.

I just can't wait to see if up comming cubs in Black Dam pride will be white. Wasn't actually one of the white Giraffe lionesses littermate of youngest Giraffe male who sired 3 of the 4 current Black Dam females?
