Another great shot of the Timbavati male that used to dominate in Thornybush with the Black dam Male and the northern male for some known as Marvin (Monwana pride male). The blood of the Timbavati male doesn't run in any male, but his blood does run in the remaining female 6 years old, of the Blackdam breakaway portion of the pride. He was her father along with her two sisters. Her two daughters now about 3 years old are also thus his granddaughters.
The Timbavati male came into Thornybush from Timbavati whilst still fenced in, Combretum farm area. It was around 2014 and he had a bad limp on his left back leg which was injured in September 2014. He partenered with Black Dam male for a year, but his condition eventually deteriorated so much that he became a loner again around 2016. His death was confirmed to have been from a tick-borne desease, Babeliosis, and not TB and an old injury

It is such a joy to watch the River Pride developing into a formidable force within the Timbavati. Most of the adult lionesses are in exceptional condition as well as the two dominant males (apparently the third guy is still missing), and all the little cubs. We hope that during the up and coming winter months we’ll see plenty of action from this pride. We’ve already seen the large herds of buffalo starting to move in again so we’ll see if this sparks a run of amazing wildlife viewing

The Mighty Kings of Orpen patrol their borders, just a few weeks scar was reported to have been hanging around with the Mayambula Pride. The males are doing well and we look to see new additions to the Skorro Pride soon.

The Bigger Mbiri male

RE: Lions of Timbavati - Potato - 05-05-2021

Even though it may appear to be a #lioness, this is in fact a young male #lion already older than 3 years.
One of the Thornybush male #lions seen recently on a #wildlife photographic #safari at @royalmalewane having a drink after him and his 2 brothers finished off an impala kill.
Nomadic males will often lose their manes due to stress of their dangerous life, always running a gauntlet in the hopes of surviving and growing old and strong to a point where they can establish their own territories.
All three are big and healthy, but their natural dominance and testosterone is being suppressed by larger males putting constant pressure on them, forcing them to try avoid confrontation and fights.

A second #lion of the 3 Thornybush male #lions we see regularly on our #wildlife photographic #safaris here at @royalmalewane in South Africa.

This  #lion along with his two brothers are looking good and seem to be avoiding confrontation for the time being between themselves and the new established rulers of the reserve, the Xikukutsu male lions along with the Mapoza Male.

Neither off spring from Avoca pride sired by Ross males survived, beside Xikukutsu male potentially as in their case it is difinitelly questionable if they were sired by Ross males at all.

Also around 10 subadults from Birmingham breakeaway are also sired by Ross males, and new cubs where born there also recently..

I trust and stay behind of the words of Johan Adolf Smalman, I can't judge such a reliable source as him, As well, the three cubs from the Avoca pride survived and now are adults, the Avoca lioness is still there doing well

There's still needed to be confirmed, As the Giraffe males or also known as the Western males were with the Birmingham breakaway pride in mid to late 2017 and the Ross males took-over the main Birmingham pride in early 2018, Forgot to add that, There are 7 cubs of two different litters

I do not know who is Johan Adolf Smalman and what knowledge does he have regarding Avoca pride, but there you have ZIggi Hugo's (who is guide at Shindzela since like forever and Shindzela so far always have been core territory of Avoca pride) post  about dynamic of Avoca pride for past years:
https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=1116688471871797&id=100005919649247

and there you can read: "The 2 Ross Males moved south and took over the Avoca pride. They fathered 7 cubs with 2 lionesses and the other 5 lionesses had 7 cubs with the Sumatra Males that moved a bit south. The 1 Sumatra male disappeared and the Ross males killed the 7 cubs. The 2 remaining lionesses with 7 cubs were sick and eventually died with the cubs also not making it. One of the last 3 was killed by a Ross male at a kill with other lionesses from Ngala. The Ross Males moved towards Ngala."
