One of the @blackdampride yawning and showing her impressive teeth on a  photographic  at @royalmalewane in South Africa recently.

The females from this pride are on their own at the moment and the 6 young males seem to have started their nomadic life looking for a territory of their own beyond the borders of the reserve, roaming into neighbouring areas in search of a patch to call their own.

RE: Lions of Timbavati - Potato - 01-06-2021

Some cats this holiday with some guests. We saw Avoca pride on 3 occasions. Once a bit far from the road with a zebra kill. We also saw the Giraffe pride with a baby giraffe kill. Only 1 Monwana male present. A few days ago we saw the male again. Some other visitors also saw the other Monwana male mating with a lioness

The 3 male coalition currently rulers over the reserve here at @royalmalewane in South Africa, where guests on their photographic #safaris are being spoiled with regular sightings of these #lions.

The #mapozamale being followed by a vehicle with tourists, on their photographic #safari here at @royalmalewane in South Africa.

This male was seen along with a few other #lions a few days ago as him and the xikukutsumales trailed behind a #lioness from the #monwanapride.

The two#xikukutsumales seen a few days ago on a #wildlife photographic #safari at @royalmalewane in South Africa.

These #lions that are partnered with the#mapozamale lion seem set to take over the entire reserve and possibly control 3 prides between them, namely the @blackdampride the #monwanapride and the Avoca Pride.

The Xikukutsu males were born in December 2015 (sons of the Ross males that now dominates the Birmingham pride) They're their oldest sons. They formed a coalition with the Mapoza male in 2018. The Xikukutsu males were still sub-aduts there. They had some disagreements with the Mapoza male.
Currently they're dominant of 2 prides (Monwana and Avoca prides) and probably a third one (Black dam breakaway pride)

They are 5 years old littermates, born in Avoca pride and sired either by Avoca/Giraffe males or Ross males (it isn't clear who sired them). When Mapoza male tookover Avoca pride he was showing aggression towards them, but at that point Xikukutsus were already old enough to stand their ground and Mapoza male was forced to accept their presence in the pride. With a time they formed a bond and made a coalition. Past year they spent  in  taking over Monwana pride. At once stage after passing away dominant single Trilogy male. At some stage one of the Xikukutsu males appeared with really rough wound on his back and his condition deteriorated but he fully recovered since.

RE: Lions of Timbavati - Potato - 01-08-2021

One of the newest dominant male #lions to hold a territory in the reserve here at @royalmalewane in South Africa
This is the larger of the 2 #xikukutsumales and is a beast for his young age due to inheriting Ross male genes, before they ventured South East and took over the Birmingham Pride.
Him and his brother have partnered with the #mapozamale #lion to form a formidable coalition.
They do however have the small task of testing their strength and dominance against a 6 male lion coalition from the  @blackdampride who are now also maturing and developing into a fearsome bunch. They made an appearance again this morning after a long absence, venturing far and wide in neighbouring reserves testing the waters of independence.
Action to be captured on our #wildlife photographic #safaris for the months to come.
