If I remember, Ryno Vosloo confirmed that too RE: Lions of Timbavati - Matimbalani - 12-15-2020 I do recall reading that BDM chased Mapoza around though they were eyeing each other from a distance. Its not that exceptional to have lions chase each other around. RE: Lions of Timbavati - Potato - 12-15-2020 "Not all that rangers see or witness they report, just saying.." If they do not report it then how would we know it happened? If they would not tell anyone or let them know by some post on social media or anythink we wouldn't know it happened. Guide in such case would be only person who witness this action. Of course guides do not track lions 24/7 and so there is a lot of action be miss out, but now we talk about what we know happened and not about what potentially could happen, but on what there are no evidance whatsoever. "If ranger said that, i dont think he would invented that.." If is a key word here. Sun Destination and Umlani never reported such interactions between BDM and Mbiris and Vuelas. BDM chasing young Mbiris and 5 young Vuyelas is very possible and not some unbelievable feat.. For me it is very unlikely at least in case of Mbiris. Anyway it is not a talk about what is possible or unpossible, but about what happened or what never happened. "The word of a ranger is enough." Think is that so far it is only your word, not a guide's. "Of course. As well, This was posted in Rogan Kerr instagram account. Everyone can goes to IG and read the text by himself. If I remember, Ryno Vosloo confirmed that too" You talk about this: https://www.instagram.com/p/CEcVvkgA2CQ/ Guide never mention there that he witness any of this. That is not a relation for the events and I could give you easly few similar cases like when Ngala guides said Ross males killed Giraffe pride lionesses when in fact it was Mbiri males or this blog: https://www.thornybush.com/posts/lion-one-eye# on which any of you should easly find few mistakes. If such intresting interaction between dominant males would happen I highly doubt both Sun Destination or (most lily and) Umlati wouldn't include or even mention it in their week in the pictures. RE: Lions of Timbavati - T I N O - 12-15-2020 There is just 1 Monwana male (First picture), The other is one of the sub-adults from the Avoca pride RE: Lions of Timbavati - Tr1x24 - 12-15-2020 (12-15-2020, 01:51 AM)TinoArmando Wrote: There is just 1 Monwana male (First picture), The other is one of the sub-adults from the Avoca pride So younger Monwanas are now trailing Avoca pride? RE: Lions of Timbavati - Mohawk4 - 12-15-2020 BDM "The tank" *This image is copyright of its original author Credits Robin Greene BDM vs Mapoza (Click the video) As the Black Dam male explores further East it was inevitable that he would find the Mapoza male. Yesterday he was chasing the much less dominant Mapoza around in his own territory. Here, they take a rest before Mapoza made another run for it with the Black Dam male following behind, vocalizing. It will be interesting to see what comes of this in the future! RE: Lions of Timbavati - Tr1x24 - 12-16-2020 Sumatra and Hercules at Baobab Ridge in Klaserie, they are in Monwana males backyard, will be interesting to see if there will be some kind of interaction between the 2 coalitions : https://www.instagram.com/p/CI0z7Twpn9K/?igshid=ft1dr0f0hrc4 *This image is copyright of its original author

BTW Rockfig guide shared his thoughts about potential Monwana vs Hercules/Sumatra in the comment section under this video: Sumatra and Hercules can be great test and challange for Monwanas after they get few good meal but my bet definitelly would be on Monwanas. Sumatra and Hercules are massive boys, but they lack confidence it seems.. Males who are nomads pretty much whole their adult life or are on the run since young days in most cases lack confidence and are avoiding conflicts.. I think those are inherited traits from younger days.. See dominant male = run.. You can see that in many cases, some DeLaporte males are good examples aswell.. It doesnt mean that cant be changed at some point.. My point is that males who are dominant earlier, are far more confident then males who where nomads for 1,2,3 yrs and where running away from dominant males in younger days.. RE: Lions of Timbavati - Potato - 12-16-2020 "Sumatra and Hercules are massive boys, but they lack confidence it seems.. " I think you judge them purely through their competition with Mbiris. I do not think you should. Mbiris are just different kind of best. Even strong, confident duo like Mapozas and Ross in confrontation with Mbiris looked skittish. My point is that they were no match for Mbiris doesn't mean at all they won't be able to compete with other coalitions. "Males who are nomads pretty much whole their adult life or are on the run since young days in most cases lack confidence and are avoiding conflicts.. " It doesn't seem to be the case there. There wasn't much updates on Hercules pride in the past 2 years, but I assume Sumatra was the lone dominant male all the way to when he appeared in Orpen Gate and then right away he too Skorro pride he wasn't really nomadic unless he was chassed of Hercules pride a bit ealier and spent a bit time as nomad before he showed himself at Orpen Gate. Anyway he definitelly wasn't nomad for his entire life, but in fact for just a little part of it. Hercules male obviously was with him all that time enjoying his life with natal pride at least for most of a time. RE: Lions of Timbavati - Tr1x24 - 12-16-2020 (12-16-2020, 02:27 AM)Potato Wrote: "Sumatra and Hercules are massive boys, but they lack confidence it seems.. " No, they where also chased by Nharhus, and they passed thru Orpen males, Ross males an Mapoza/Xikukutsus territory to return in their "natal" area where they where before.. But maybe they are just testing waters, for now.. Is Sumatra dominant majority of his life? He became dominant in April 2017 with Ross breakeaway females at the age of 5, 5.5 prob .. Then in early 2018 with Hercules pride, but after that we have 0 info that he was dominant male, as BDM was pushing deeper into his area, sightings of both Sumatra and Hercules prides where almost 0..so we dont know how long Sumatra was dominant over in Klaserie,if he was.. Ok, maybe my point wasnt exactly on point for those 2, because we dont know what was Sumatra doing since mid 2018 - mid 2019, i agree.. |
