RE: Lions of Timbavati - Ngala - 09-28-2016 From Tintswalo Safari Lodge: "Yesterday afternoon, the Sizanani Thanda Impi male Lion was found with one of the young Mbiri Lionesses on Buffalo plains. There was also loads of general game seen in the area." *This image is copyright of its original author "This morning, the Nharhu pride was found on Mveve link. The big news was the Avoca males back in the north on Civet road. They moved back towards the north though. Again the general game was incredible." *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author
RE: Lions of Timbavati - Gamiz - 09-29-2016 From Nthambo Tree Camp This morning we enjoyed observing these bushveld beauties as they tucked into a fresh buffalo kill before finding a patch of shade and relaxing close to the game viewer. The Mapoza males and both Breakaway lionesses were at the sighting, although we know all too well that the one female is not a fan of the big Mapoza, and she tends to keep her distance. The second lioness was quite happy to relax alongside the older male while he scent marked and performed the Flehmen grimace. *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author

The afternoon of the 5th, 3 mbiri lionesses were located with the 2 thanda impi males on windy windy comfortably snoozing in the shade of a quarry bush. *This image is copyright of its original author

RE: Lions of Timbavati - Gamiz - 10-09-2016 From Tintswalo Safari Lodge Safari Update The following morning, we had an epic sighting of the 3 young mbiri lionesses hunting buffalo west of zebra pan. All attempts were futile, but the cat and mouse game between these eternal enemies was thoroughly enjoyed by the guests! Sizanani (Thanda Impi male lion) accompanied the females but hanged back when the females launched their attack. The afternoon drive proved fruitful yet again, when the nharu pride with all ten cubs were found on leadwood link being their mischievous selves. *This image is copyright of its original author

RE: Lions of Timbavati - Gamiz - 10-12-2016 From Pondoro Game Lodge One of the Singwe males on the 4th of October 2016. They are young and fearless looking to expand their territory further to the southeast. Nice to see them again. *This image is copyright of its original author
RE: Lions of Timbavati - Ngala - 10-13-2016 From Pondoro Game Lodge: "Mohlabetsi male on honeymoon yesterday afternoon. They had no privacy however as 3 younger males were eager spectators." *This image is copyright of its original author
RE: Lions of Timbavati - Gamiz - 10-20-2016 Trilogy male was seen alone today.he went into bateleurs nest. photo taken by Jacco Maat. *This image is copyright of its original author Info from Brett Horley Safaris One of our memories of a Trilogy male, while these guys still reigned in the Klaserie. Starting out as 3 magnificent males in their prime - and subsequently named 'the Trilogy' - these guys spent over 2 years as kings, until earlier this year, one of the males died, and then more recently, a couple of new males began to make their presence known (Mapoza males). The Trilogy moved off and spent their time near Walkers River Camp where we saw one of the males looking in poor condition, while the other spent 2 days on his own calling for his brother. These guys have certainly been overthrown by the Mapozas, and it will be interesting to see what lies in ahead for the two, or possibly only one, remaining Trilogy. RE: Lions of Timbavati - Tshokwane - 10-20-2016 (10-20-2016, 07:55 AM)Gamiz Wrote: The Trilogy moved off and spent their time near Walkers River Camp where we saw one of the males looking in poor condition, while the other spent 2 days on his own calling for his brother. I really like them, I thought they had much more time in their tanks left than what it was. But, as always, life moves on and the new lions that takeover don't do it just by chance. There's a reason behind it, the simplest reason there may be. They're better. Good info @Gamiz , keep it coming. RE: Lions of Timbavati - Tshokwane - 10-20-2016 The older Mapoza male, credits to NThambo Tree Camp. The phenomenal Mapoza male looked dashing in this morning's golden glow. His ultra-blonde locks and (so far) scar-free face make him one good looking lion. His brother was also on the scene, but remained out of sight. *This image is copyright of its original author Caught in the act: the lions will continue to mate over a period of about 5 days at 20-minute intervals until the deed is done! *This image is copyright of its original author We couldn't tell which lioness was mating because the duo were shacked up in the thicket rather far away, but in the past the older Breakaway lioness with the scarred eye has paired up with this male, while the other lioness always keeps her distance from these males. *This image is copyright of its original author

RE: Lions of Timbavati - Gamiz - 10-23-2016 From Baobab Ridge Game Lodge We may have just witnessed the end of an Era in the Klaserie and at Baobab Ridge Game Lodge, a few days ago while on morning drive the Last standing Trilogy Male Lion was seen moving North at a frantic pace stopping for nothing! We think that during the night the once Nomadic Maposa coalition has finally taken over the Trilogy Male's territory, ousting the last standing of the once so powerful Coalition. The Maposa Males wasted no time and began asserting their dominance with the females in their new territory and were seen mating with the Ross Break - away females. So as one Male’s tenure has come to an end, another is just beginning!!!! The Trilogy Male has yet to be seen again, will these photos be the last of him crossing our boundaries northwards?
