The post was moved to this thread, since he isn't a Gomondwane male and neither from Kruger. But definitely he is a very good looking male. Above all.

[archivo adjunto = 6836] Sopa pride.
Almost four hours watching this large herd as they devoured the huge buffalo that they possibly hunted the night before.
I don't know which coalition of males dominates this pride. The guide said that the young male that appears in the image was one of them but I have my doubts ...
Moments after this image, the adult lioness who entered the place from the right, managed to turn the body of the buffalo with great effort and immediately many large cubs returned to continue eating what was exposed.

Anyone know which coalition of males dominates this sopa pride???

Two Crater males, Tanzania. I never get over just how large and pronounced some of their skulls are.

Forgive me for posting an image with watermarks on it, but I couldn't help but be intrigued by this Serengeti males features. It almost reminds of Atlas lions, which just goes to show that even within the same population lions can still have a wide range of features. Now, although some populations are much more likely to have certain physical traits than others, it's quite interesting to see them in areas you least expect.

This can also mean that a lot of the captive lions that are said to be Atlas/ Barbary lions may not actually be them, but very likely from other African populations instead. Remember, lions tend to grow much larger manes in temperate or colder areas, so you really have to cancel out a big full mane when it comes to identifying Atlas lions despite the misconception that they're the ones to grow it.

Hunting mood!

The male lion in general is not the best hunter. But the Kalahari lions are an excellent hunters for all prey, here a great set of pictures of an incredible sighting of a big Kalahari lion hunting an impala several years ago taken by Bora Mutlu.

One of the Rekero boys Green Eyes having snare removed back in 2020. Masai Mara, National Park Kenya. One thing I noticed apart from everything is just how large his arms are compared to these men. Imagine a well placed paw swipe to the head from these guys.

That's not an impala, its a springbok. Lovely capture, though.
