I assume this is not the same Tsekedi who was Sekekama's son on Savage Kingdom, is this a different one?

Yes, this is Tsekedi from the Savage Kingdom.

Oh wow, that is fantastic! He certainly gave his father a lot of grief, and not unlike BYM, he was very resistent to being driven out of his natal pride. He looks great, thank you for that update @titose

The fall of a King!
Rest in peace ScarFace of the Bayala male Coalition in the Pinda Private Game Reserve.
Around 10 days ago the two dominant male lions from the south of @andbeyondphinda pushed into the territory of the males of the north. The two coalitions collided and the intruders managed to separate the two northern males. Chaos erupted as the interlopers pursued one of their northern rivals deep into the woodlands of the far north. Eventually they grew tired and lay down to rest, leaving the pursued lion to flee into the marshes. That night they tried to press home their advantage when they encountered the second male. They chased him in the same direction as they had chased his brother earlier and then they were lost heading into the marshy grassland. Over the week that followed we saw both of the males from the north - one sporting a swollen and weeping eye, and one with an injured front paw and claw marks across his face. We only saw one of the males from the south though. Back in his territory he too wore scars of the battle - a puncture mark behind one eye and a gash next to the other. We could not find his brother though and after a lot of searching his decomposing body was discovered yesterday under a scented pod thorn tree...
As sad as it is to stand next to the body of what was once a magnificent, black-maned lion, it is comforting to know that he died at the “hands” of other lions and that his bloodline lives on in the offspring he has fathered?

Such a shame, these guys where featured on WildEarth Phinda in the past year or so, very beautiful and impressive males..

Males are really going at each others recently..

"Lions of Africa" on Bayala males :

"It is with sadness again that we have to report yet the death of another male lion. One of the two impressive Bayala males has been killed at Phinda.

The two males, that are in control of the Bayala pride and the Mountain pride, were seen heading to the North to chase and confront the two rival North/Mnqobokazi male lions 10 days ago. They managed to separate the North males, chasing both of them. During the night however the tables turned and the scarfaced Bayala male seen in this picture was killed in the confrontation. All three surviving male lions were seen with injuries. Claw marks, different puncture wounds, swollen eyes and one of them with an injured front paw.

Born at Marataba within the Marakele National Park the two Bayala males were introduced to the reserve in 2018 together with the two North/Mnqobokazi males. Since there’s a lot of wrong information circulating regarding their age we can at least shed a light here. With now 6 years of age they’re approximately one year younger than their rivals in the North. Despite that young age they were physically fully developed and hitting their prime, thus they were on par with the North/Mnqobokazi males. They took a gamble by going for an open confrontation and sadly paid the price.

The Bayala males currently have a total of 16 cubs in both prides. The death of one of the brothers means no good news for the survival chance of their offspring. We can only hope for the best.

Especially the scarfaced Bayala male was a real treat for the eyes. He was huge, healthy and sporting an impressive dark mane that easily made people believe he was older than he actually was. Many people enjoyed his sightings, not only on the ground at Phinda but also when WildEarth broadcasted their live-safaris. He will surely be missed.

Farewell, big man! "

I think they are definetly older then 6,more so around 7- 8 prob, here is photo of Scarface in 2019, 2 yrs ago:

A recent sighting of the last of the Addo boys, apparently he was involved in a fight with another male lion today.
"Lucky to catch the Addo lion this morning although it seems to have lost a fight with another male in the area"
