We don't know if they are really full and in this case that method should be applied to ALL cats and other carnivores then, and even if they were full it doesn't mean they will always weight the same as they used to when they get empty again. it will be a tricky task by eyes to always try to figure out whats in their bellies unless you really do find out what's in it and how heavy the content is, other than that we can only guess whether they're full or not which will most of the times be inaccurate guesses due to the fact of jaguars being broad cats by nature. I'm aware that the jaguars in the Llanos region among both countries are the same, I have posted plenty of images of Colombian Llanos jaguars on here as there has been a recent surge of tracking for this animals and I noticed it wasn't being covered in this forum. Santander is not located in the Llanos though, as a province it is part of the Andes region. These jaguars live by the foothills of the Andes and appear to get really big. I'm looking forward to posting more about them as I track more information and organizations like Panthera Colombia release more data. Makes me wonder how much those robust males in Argentina like Sixto or Baqueano are weighing at for example RE: Modern Weights and Measurements of Jaguars - Dark Jaguar - 04-27-2020 (04-27-2020, 06:10 AM)OncaAtrox Wrote:(04-27-2020, 05:30 AM)Dark Jaguar Wrote: http://www.wconservation.com/revista.pdf The only way to truly find out the measurements of the jags you mentioned is by really capturing them. Nati in that pic could possibly be younger than when he was captured with 110 kilos and could indeed be larger if captured again but remember this article was from 2012 he was captured in early November 2011 and neither Nati nor Brazuca were very habituated males to the Refúgio Ecológico Caiman. RE: Modern Weights and Measurements of Jaguars - Balam - 05-04-2020 According to the report, this sub-adult captive jaguar weighed 90 kg at only 18 months of age. He's one of the Santander jaguars I have posted before, he must be in his prime right now so I wonder how much he weighs now that he's older but I'm sure over 100 kg. RE: Modern Weights and Measurements of Jaguars - Dark Jaguar - 05-09-2020 I was in contact with the fantastic brazilian project ''Onças do Iguaçú'' and they kindly provided me the weight of Tarobá atlantic forest male. *This image is copyright of its original author Tarobá male weights 81 kilos when he was captured. He was captured in June last year. *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author Lask week his collar fell off his neck and Onças do Iguaçú team had to collect it in the Atlantic Forest wilderness they were very worried and concerned on the possibility of Tarobá being poached, but it turned out only the collar was found thank God and he is fine, I assume it was possibly due to musculature growth ''girth'' of his neck. For a comparison Tarobá is 8 kilos larger than Croissant atlantic forest male 73kg, Croissant is another atlantic forest male captured and monitored by Onças do Iguaçú project as well.
