Those are Nsemani males, bigger (right one) is their older brother Mbiri male. And yea, he is prob bigger then both of them..

RE: Lions of Timbavati - sik94 - 08-29-2020

Its probably that one sighting was of BDM moving into the bush after getting injured (he was fatally wounded but didn't actually die right then as lions don't just usually drop dead after getting horned). Then he was later finished by the Monwanas, the first report jumps to the conclusion to save us the trouble of having it confirmed through another source that BDM was dead.

Thanks. That's awesome, I thought these males looked familiar but I wasn't sure.

What a way to start the morning in Kruger.

The two Mbiri male lions in Kruger 26km from Orpen. 2 male lions chasing 2 other big males roaring aggressively the whole time.
They left the road close to Bobbejaans Krans view point and we could just hear their roars. Was amazing...

People here are saying that it could be the Nsemani Males. However the chase took place at Bobbjaan Krans which is close to the territory of the Leeubron Males on the S39 and S36. The territory of the Nsemani Males is closer to Satara around Nsemani Dam. So they would have to be quite far west of their usual territory for it to be them. However they could be expanding their territory westwards.

Guys, just google pictures of Nsemani males and compare, those are Nsemani males...

Leeubron males look different and they are rarely seen this days in that area, they have territory off the main roads..

IDing lions with pictures is just a bit lucky my friend.
you have a great knowledge but is hard to tell if those are definitely the Nsemani males, when Hercules and Sumatra mostly see there, despite the one of the left is a dark-maned male, it depends of the lens of the camera.
plus, we don't get any picture of the individual males to ID them.
Those males are Nsemani or the Hercules and Sumatra males, the one of the right has a limp according the photographer, he run a bit "funny"

This is not territory of Sumatra and Hercules, their territory is way more west around Orpens Gate and Tamboti Camp..

Idk man, just compare pictures and you will see that those are not Hercules (he has blonde mane, no dark mane like this two) and Sumatra, yet most likely Nsemanis..

Most recent picture of Hercules male:

Interesting that the Leeubron Males now are seen on the S126 as well as the S36, as the Mluwati Males are now seen on the S126 after they moved their territory away from the Mluwati Concession.

I agree.
I still can't ID him, I think is much hard know who's he, He's running and plus the Whiskers pattern can't be seen easily

Also, I think Ricky Da Fonseca It's an expert with the lions.
If he wasn't able to ID them and plus he say that those 2 big boys are new in the area, he should be 101% correct
This is my humble opinion

RE: Lions of Timbavati - Brahim - 08-29-2020

@"TinoArmando" yeah Ricky is good. Yeah they seem like two impressive nomads will be interesting to see what they do
