RE: Lion pictures and videos - Cunaguaro - 05-18-2020 "One of the Cheli females that we found last month poses with the dark skies behind as she intently looked at a warthog across the lugga. She and the rest of her pride females had crossed territory area and had come into the Serian Pride's area. A few of them were looking all beaten up. A few mornings before this photo was taken we had heard a dispute from the lions to the right of camp and judging by all the scratches and bite marks, we assume that the two pride groups had come into contact with each other and had a big scrap. We have not seen the Cheli females back on the Serian side since this photo, they have now moved back into their territory". Image by: John Reeve Moller. To be a male in a family has lots of load on their shoulders. RE: Lion pictures and videos - Spalea - 05-22-2020 Kevin Richardson: " There are two sub species of lion. Panthera leo leo - Central, West Africa and Asia and Panthera leo melanochaita - East and Southern Africa. It was previously thought that the Asiatic lion was a separate subspecies however modern genetic studies reveal that genetically they are similar to the Central, West and previously North African (Moroccan or Barbary) lions. I find this fascinating as one almost wants to assume that the Central populations must be more genetically similar to their eastern cousins but this is not the case.
