We pretty much have daily updates from west and north, not so much from MalaMala or south.

Just because we have no news from there, it doesnt mean nothing is happening.

Knock on wood but the gijima and ndzenga prides haven’t lost a member in a long time I mean k2 lost one of her 4 cubs due to mane but other than that I think Birmingham Styx lost her tiny cubs and that’s pretty much it other than the young Styx female that was killed tsalala lost potentially all of her cubs mhangenis lost 4 cubs so yeah not saying all is perfect in the south but if something happens they’d let us know and so far nothing has really happened which is good

I have a question about your comment. Didn’t K2 lost all of her cubs? The three remaining cubs are from K2 sister. How many cubs are there with the three Kambula lionesses ? I thought there were three cub. I am really hoping K2 cubs are alive.

RE: Lions of Sabi Sands - Ttimemarti - 10-31-2024

I think she just lost 1 she had 4 and lost 1 but she does have a son with the other pride

There was post here how there was only 3 cubs left, but there were three older cubs from K2 sister. Hopefully you are right.

Watching that last Londolozi Virtual Safari makes it very clear how difficult it is for these guides to judge lion sizes when seeing them in different instances, from different angles and distances, different levels of stomach content, mane size and what not.

The guide ( who, alongside everybody else, considers Ndhzengas to be below average ) thinks the Ndhzengas would probably beat the 2 Nkhulu because "Nkhulus are fairly small", which would imply he believes Nkhukus to be even smaller than Ndhzengas.

At the same time he claims the Gijimas are enormous, same thing he said when he saw them visiting Londolozi months ago.

However from the videos and photos of Nkhulus and Gijimas together, clashing and chasing each other, they are the same size.

He also says Kambulas have decent size and S.Avoca & Kruger male are pretty big, with Kruger being quite bigger which would imply he thought the Kruger male was more impressive than Kambulas, probably even the S.Avoca male was.

Still, from the videos, Kambulas didn't seem any less impressive than the Kruger male, which would make them bigger than S.Avoca who is clearly smaller than Kruger male, as we have seen them side by side.

It's likely that for these size comparisons to be a bit reliable despite not seeing them side by side, the guides have to be very familiar with the lions in question and see them regularly, and not only that, the difference in size must be big for them to be able to estimate who's bigger. Say Londolozi guides comparing PCM and Ndhzengas, they know them well, see them all the time and the difference in size is quite noticeable.

But with lions they are less familiar with and that aren't particularly huge like Makhunga or small like Eorenji, if they aren't in the same frame, it's hard to say who's bigger, most lions are the same size after all, average.

That Imbali lioness might be a wrong ID, and it’s really Little Amber. The day we know Mantimhales were spotted with Little Amber and mating, EP said they were seen with an Imbali lioness on that day and mating too, so highly likely it’s really her.

PCMs possibly making their way back North is interesting, and something I wish wasn’t happening tbh. I’d much rather have Mantimahles and the K4 fight it out over control of that pride. Looks like we’ll prolly see an encounter with atleast some of these boys soon.

Today its really the Imbali pride one female have the same nose scar that 1 Imbali female have. The female lioness mating today with the Dark Mane Mantimahle is the Imbali female that have a nose scar.
For Little Amber its confirmed that Little Amber is the injured one by the Mantimahle Males.
With regard to the PCM its more likely that a clash between lion coalitions at north is inevitable with so many male lions around, 11 male lions.
Male Lions At North:
2PCM
2Mantimahle Sons
4Kambulas
Kruger Male
South Avoca

So happy to see that she hasn't lost the eye and that she's back with the pride. I'm sure she's learned some hard and valuable lessons over the last week.

It seems she is one of the meeker/less aggressive females in the pride. But that meekness and submissiveness might have saved her life with the two Mantimahtle males.

*Two PCM sighted at Hoffsman Property (South of Djuma) by a guide.

I initally thought the same (misID) when I saw the EP log, and the sighting last week was probably her, but she's been spotted back with the pride, and after what happened with those males I doubt she would then go back to them. She's probably very relieved to be back in the safety of her pride.

Yeah a clash seems inevitable, but probably needs to happen. I also would rather the PCs just stopped coming to the north, but they won't do that until they receive some push-back/resistance from other males.

Do not really know but its what the guides in the north said to Cedric that PCM is in Hoffman's property (South of Djuma), maybe its Makhunga's brother as per Omega's post is only Makhunga. But I'm pretty sure I saw a post in Instagram today with a tag of ChitwaChitwa and PCM, I will try to find it or maybe they miss identify the lion.

* I can't seem to find the IG story/post maybe they deleted it because of wrong ID but I think it is Deon who posted it. *
